Back pain is a common health condition nowadays. Studies proved that it is women who suffers from this condition when compared to men. Even though there are a lot of pain killers available nothing seems to be giving permanent solution. Recently I heard about the positive results of massage therapy, in treating the shoulder pain, back pain etc. After reading this details about this, my opinion is to consult a professional massage therapist rather than going after the pain killers which bring in negative results than positive ones.

I used to have a lot of lower back problems, but I bought an inversion table and started reading the newspaper in the morning hanging upside down, after about a month my lower back issues were greatly diminished and today I only hang upside down about once or twice a week. Also a year and a half ago I fell off a roof and broke my mid back and four ribs and after the required bed rest to heal I was sent off to physical therapy and the therapist hooked me up to a tens unit and the residual pain was eliminated, today I am basically pain free with no meds, massage or tens units, so I would say use whatever works for you before resorting to any pain medication. The tens unit can be purchased online without a prescription for under $30 and uses electrical stimulation to flood the neural pathways so you can't receive the message that you are in pain.

Been going through back pain for over a decade and not much helps. Pain killers, of course, but I did get massage therapy and was amazed that it worked. Unfortunately the decreased pain levels only lasted for 3 days and the therapist could only see me twice a month. It's definitely worth looking into if you have back pain, though. Don't go to those relaxing massage parlors, that's different, but try a therapist where the massages are a little painful and intense, but the result is worth it.

Yes I agreed with your suggestion :) Treatment from professional massage therapist is very good option for back pain.

Ive been living with back pain since I was 21... only gotten worst with age and nothing helps but drugs and surgeries.... nothing they can do mostly. Spinal issues is something thats either genetics, inheirited or injury related, most are not treatable except pain killers... mine went from bad to worst, nothing thats a quick cure, thats for sure. Been there, done that....nope.

I recommend massage therapy for back pain. I'm a bit biased ;) I give clients home work, stretches to do everyday so the effects last longer.

I sit in an office chair for the most part, and occasionally feel a little tender on my lower back, no pain - yet. I occasionally go swimming like a dolphin goof and find that it helps with my back (perhaps blood circulation is the key here?). Forget icy-hot or bengay, it's PURE bunk!
