1. Don't sell cookies or candies, don't have your kids knocking door to door or solicit.

2. Buy only wallet size picture of your kid... don't need to buy picture every year.

3. Don't buy too much school supplies such as glue and stuff, kid might not need all of that.

4. Don't pay too much on after school activities, let your kid volunteer in something.

5. Prom, class ring? Tell your kid to get a job at McDonald's, let your kid know the value of money

You don't know nothing about school!
1. Why not buy candies and cookies from school. It is for fund raising, done that before.
2.I hate wallet size. I don't care I like school picture for son everyyear.
3. My son need school stuff, otherwise if he don't have school stuff he will fail! I am not complaining to buy school stuff that is the way is!
4. You have to pay school activities, for example uniform. You have to pay for it. My son join track team, I already pay for it. That is the way is.
5. I will pay prom ring for my son school. It is good memories. My mom did pay me class ring.. It is parents job to support kids stuff.. My son is not 16 yrs yet to get a job. He is too young to get a job!
It is my decision..

1. we didn't sell cookies or candies, but we sold mag. and other things, and I didn't try to sell a lot.

2. Bought pics cause I would be in that grade once, and the same is going with my kids. Now, it will be the cheap package with 8x10

3. Will by as we go. Not going to waste that much.

4. Will pay what we need, as long as our kids stay in the activities.

5. I paid for my own and my kids will have a job to get what they want at the point, but I will cover anything that they need covered.

I got it from AOL, on how to save money.

Don't get mad at me, I didn't make this stuff up.

That's the best suggestion. If you give a child everything, it loses value. They will never know the value of things if they just depend on parents for everything.

Some of those things seem important at the time, but in the scheme of things, they really aren't that important. It might be better to use that money towards college expenses.

I know several people (myself included) who never attended a prom, never bought a high school ring, and never missed any of it. I did buy myself a college ring when I got my BS degree because I earned that degree, and I earned the money for my ring.

Really, unless you wear a Super Bowl ring, or a military academy ring, most people don't even notice.

I keep my class ring and it is my treasure ring..

Why public school need fundraise, when you guys pay taxes, some of the
taxes go to the public school?

Only 10% of money go to the school, and the rich man keep 90% in his pocket.

Fundraisiers for the kids is to fund their optional field trips, sports events, and other activities that aren't necessary to their education but add a ton to their life experience. It's not about school funding, it's either you fundraise for these trips or someone doesn't learn math. The school would rather pay for kids to learn math.

These tips are awful tips, regardless if they come from Patricia or from AOL.

The class ring is the only one where there might be some worthy debate. I don't miss having a class ring, as I'm not a ring person, but I have a coworker who loves his big-ass honkin' class ring and wears it every day still. He's proud of it. I never got a high school class letter jacket, because I knew after high school I'd never wear it. Being on a college campus with a high school letter jacket would be TACKY. I probably should have some more CSUN stuff, but I'd still never really wear a class ring, for ME.

Children need to stay at home and do some homework and make all
A's on their Report Card. My nephew doesn't do some activity after
school... and my nephew is 10 years old, he loves to read books...
and his Reading skills are 8th grade level... he could skip a grade if
his mom let him.

When I was at Elem. School, Jr. High, and High School, I did a lot of stage
play, and I learn how to play piano, and things like that... and
where did it get me??? NO WHERE.

Letting your kids play sports and have a job helps them learn to manage their time. Job also helps them learn to manage their money. Also, with me in HS, I had soo much free time outside wrestling season, it wouldn't bother me. I also had a job and was pulling 20 hours a week while going to school. It didn't affect my school work. I was still getting high grades in math and sci. and passing in my english.

Now, the piano and everything else, that also helps the mind to learn things faster and learn more things. They say that music and reading helps the learning system and is the reason to start that with the kids in the early stages.

1) Im the responsbility to pay what my kids want to do (sports) whatever kids wants to do in their activities..Will pay what we need, as long as our kids stay in the activities. ( I agree with my handsome smiley husband)

2) I am responsbility to pay prom, class ring and stuff... Thats their own experiences.... Class ring is very value to them if they really want to finish High School and they are deserves it..

3) Bought pics cause I would be in that grade once, and the same is going with my kids. Now, it will be the cheap package with 8x10

4) we didn't sell cookies or candies, but we sold mag. and other things, and I didn't try to sell a lot. (unless they want to be a girl scout or boy scout), it will not have a problem with me and my husband...

5) Will by as we go. Not going to waste that much.

Why do we want to have kids? That is why, we need to give our kids our love, attentions, and etc.. It is our responsbility for the kids what they needed and what they want but we will not spoiled them as HELL...

They will get their own decision's treats if they are really good kids and they are deserves to get their own treats...

Am I right, Handsome Smiley? I love you.. :aw: :aw:

My nephew did not like Boy Scout, the meetings are too boring for him.
He doesn't want to play sports.
We offered him to practice piano, he doesn't like that, it is too boring.

I agree with him, Piano is boring. I hate sports, ugh... the sun
hurting my eyes.

yeah... Kids don't really care about material things and stuff...
All they want is YOUR LOVE, SHELTER, and food you PROVIDE to them.

I bought my brother his highschool class ring and I he has it on every single day.

I agree that somethings are just frivolous and unnecessary, but things like cookies and door to door sales are how schools get money to give you child extra experiences such as field trips, or to bring special speakers into the class room. The photo is just a personal choice, it isnt a scam. The school is not making money off of you buying those photos. The school hires a professional photographer in the local area, and even if you dont pay for a package the kid will still have his picture taken for a yearbook or class photo. Its not a scam, no one is tricking you.

2. Buy only wallet size picture of your kid... don't need to buy picture every year.

1. Having your kid go out and door to door sale, costs you NOTHING. However if you chose to buy something from a child door to door selling for their school its for fund raising purposes. Its to help the school pay for extra frills and thrills for children. To take them on a field trip, to buy special art supplies for a special project, to pay to bring in a special speaker. All things that are going to help your child.

2. Even if you do not pay for the photo the child will have his photo taken for the class or solo photo to go into the yearbook. This is not a scam, the school makes no money off of this. In fact its the school who pays a local photographer from the area to come in and take these photos. When you buy photos, that money doesnt go to the school, that money goes to the photographer company that took the photos. Its not a scam, they are not lying to you.

3. If a teacher makes a list, the teacher will only put things on the list that the child is going to use. How much does a bottle of glue cost 25 cents? 40 cents? Of course dont go out and buy some one pound bottle of glue. Be sensible and just buy them the little supplies that the teacher asks. As well if you can not afford to buy school supplies, a lot of schools have charity drop offs where you can go pick up your supplies from a church charity for your child. Its not a scam, no one is trying to falsely get money from you.

4. Dont pay for after school activities? I agree that volunteering should be a factor in some of the childs after school activities, it helps them learn and grown to help others. But as well if your child wants to learn to play an instrument, or dance or play a sport, i believe its your duty as a parent to help them accomplish their goals. If you arent willing to spend a little bit of cash to make sure that your child is able to take part in other social activies with other kids then you shouldnt be a parent. Because being a parent is a full time and expensive job. Its a proven fact that having your child involved with art, music or other activities makes them develop better.

Also I rather be paying for my child to be in some activity then out on the street, in a gang or having no idea where my child is after school.

5. Prom and class rings are optional, but some things are all about the experience, and i think things like prom and class rings should be a joint effort or a reward for the child for doing good and completing their education. If money was tight, i would tell my child to get a job and I would try to split the cost of the ring or prom with them. If money wasnt so tight I would get it for them as a reward to let them know how very proud I am of all their accomplishments.

Lastly, Empress THESE THINGS ARE NOT SCAMS. A scam is when someone lies to you, or tries to con you into doing something that you would not normally do if you knew the full truth.

These are simply money saving techniques, in no WAY is paying for after school activities a scam.

parents have to buy papers for the students class.. school will not pay for papers anymore why? cuz they cant afford to pay for that as they have to pay for electricity and teachers salaries.. so we are responsible for the papers, pencils, and so on etc.

Schools are losing a lot of money and going bankrupt. We need those fundraisers or our kids will be stuck with home schooling, and who has time for that?
