Yep, gonna be a hot summer sunny day here. Its gonna be 36 deg celsuis here in Perth. Last year it was 41 deg. Can't wait to see the big fireworks tonight and showing off my aussie colours! Whoo hoo!
We went to see the fireworks in Perth last night and it was awesome! It was a warm summer night with some breeze blowing. Today we went to the beach for a nice swim and also browsing around in the coastal town not too far from my place. It was a bit cooler than yesterday but windy. Tmw is public holiday, we prolly go to the beach again.
What you aussie do for the aussie day?
What is Australia Day? Is that similar to 4th of July like in America?
What is Australia Day? Is that similar to 4th of July like in America?
Australia’s national day, Australia Day, on 26 January, marks the date in 1788 when Captain Arthur Phillip, of the British Royal Navy, commanding a fleet of 11 ships, sailed into Port Jackson (Sydney Cove). Phillip formally took possession of the eastern part of the continent for England and established a settlement, now Australia’s largest city, Sydney.
Yes it is similar to your 4th of July in USA. We show off our flag & colours and some ppl have parties or bbq. Families get together having a picnic out in the park or their home. Some ppl go out on their boat to have a picnic on the river. There are always activities going on anywhere. In the evening, there are fireworks to watch too mostly at big places. We always celebrates Australia day on Jan 26th every year and we have a long weekend too. Because it is on Saturday, we have public holiday on Monday.
