Well! I found out from a friend of mine of how my current hearing aid audiologist is truly a scammer. My friend was in Cheyenne seeing her audiologist and the Cheyenne audie mentioned that she checked the serial numbers on a pair of hearing aids of a kid that was having problems with them, and turns out... THEY WERE USED HEARING AIDS... My local audiologist sold USED hearing aids as brand new for full price. I knew he tends to overcharge for hearing aids and earmolds, but to take used hearing aids and turn around and sell them as brand new for full price? Oh shame! and he even tells parents their kids would need new earmolds every 3 weeks since their ears grow too fast (school age kids), which is complete B.S.
I knew my audie was kind of shady ever since I found out he was FIRED from his position at the University of Wyoming for shady business, and I have been doing all I can to avoid having to go in to see him. The other audie in the same office is fine, but just because she's in the same office that my audie is in, I'd rather not have anything to do with them at all. I don't know of any other respectable audies here in town, but my friend said she would talk to her Cheyenne audie and see if she has any recommendations. Otherwise, I just may have to start driving down to Cheyenne to see her for my hearing aid/audiological needs, or go to the audiology center at the University of Wyoming in Laramie (I have ALWAYS gotten hearing tests and hearing aids through them before my audie moved here and opened his own office).
What would you guys do if you found out your audiologist was shady and scamming customers? I'm real pissed over what I heard of my audie, and am trying to decide if I should warn a friend of mine who is getting new hearing aids from him tomorrow. I probably will, since I know she's been struggling to make ends meet.
