Well! I found out from a friend of mine of how my current hearing aid audiologist is truly a scammer. My friend was in Cheyenne seeing her audiologist and the Cheyenne audie mentioned that she checked the serial numbers on a pair of hearing aids of a kid that was having problems with them, and turns out... THEY WERE USED HEARING AIDS... My local audiologist sold USED hearing aids as brand new for full price. I knew he tends to overcharge for hearing aids and earmolds, but to take used hearing aids and turn around and sell them as brand new for full price? Oh shame! and he even tells parents their kids would need new earmolds every 3 weeks since their ears grow too fast (school age kids), which is complete B.S.

I knew my audie was kind of shady ever since I found out he was FIRED from his position at the University of Wyoming for shady business, and I have been doing all I can to avoid having to go in to see him. The other audie in the same office is fine, but just because she's in the same office that my audie is in, I'd rather not have anything to do with them at all. I don't know of any other respectable audies here in town, but my friend said she would talk to her Cheyenne audie and see if she has any recommendations. Otherwise, I just may have to start driving down to Cheyenne to see her for my hearing aid/audiological needs, or go to the audiology center at the University of Wyoming in Laramie (I have ALWAYS gotten hearing tests and hearing aids through them before my audie moved here and opened his own office).

What would you guys do if you found out your audiologist was shady and scamming customers? I'm real pissed over what I heard of my audie, and am trying to decide if I should warn a friend of mine who is getting new hearing aids from him tomorrow. I probably will, since I know she's been struggling to make ends meet.

Warn everyone to stay away from him. Also contact your lawyers, this smells like a class action lawsuit against him.

I would get another and I would warn any friends about it too.

I think you would be better off going back to the university clinic where they are not profit driven.

yeah I warned my friend. She says she doesn't have to pay, that a program is buying the hearing aids for her. But I told her to be careful anyway, make sure they are BRAND NEW never before used hearing aids. I hope she takes my warning seriously.

I seriously have been trying to stay away from this audie. I haven't really been scammed (except for the fact that the earmolds are overpriced but the whole office charges $60 per earmold anyway). I just can't believe that he's been managing to get away with this for years now. That's why he was fired from the University's audiology department! oh my.

At first, I was glad when he opened his office here. That meant no more trips to Laramie just for hearing aid tweakings and having to miss school. But now that I'm not in school, I've been trying to be cautious. I knew about the overcharing and stuff, but full-out scamming people into thinking they were actually buying brand new hearing aids but they're actually used? wow.

That is just horrible, so sorry to hear this news. Can you call the local papers to out him in an article?

No. I work for the local papers and it's not my place. Plus, they'd need proof that the audie is doing this.

oh:S well that's not good! I would definitelyyy find another audi! How is the CI process going for you? Is he involved in that? I hope not! I wouldn't want him to be scamming u with costs as I know you already are paying a lot out-of-pocket expenses...good luck finding a new audi!

oh he's most definitely not involved with the implant process. I have to go out of state for the CI stuff. He has been wanting to work with cochlear implants, like with the mapping and stuff but pft I still wouldn't go to him. I have an appointment May 5 for another hearing test and to see the doctor about the CT scan results.

Oh good! That's soon! Do you know what CI you are going to go with yet or have u not researched that far yet? do u have aim/msn if so and u wanna add me pm me:)

I've been researching the implants since 2003 haha. :) I do know which implant I want (AB Harmony), but first lets see what the doctor says about my cochleas.

that's what I thought..i knew i read somewhere that u had been looking into it for a while, just couldn't member if u had picked what you would like to have yet:P cool AB has some cool color CI's!

I know that feeling! My last audi was the same way, he sold me a set of hearing aids for 5k and then they were total wrong aids for me! I asked him about them even and he lied to me to get the sale because they were really trying to push the Zon 7 product. He kept lying to me until my warrenty was up and it was too late to give them back and trade them in! I liked him because they were so nice and caring but it doesn't excuse the fact they sold me the wrong hearing aids on purpose. I found my new audi and I haven't been back to the old one since. I feel bad because I referred him to a very good friend of mine and she is buying a new set from him as well. ughh...

I hope everything works out!
