I bought 3 audio books: The Cat In The Hat, Good Night, Moon and Green Eggs And Ham. I've tried both The Cat In the Hat and Good Night, Moon. I couldn't understand The Cat In The Hat; my parents told me they couldn't understand it either as the speaker talked really fast. I had a much easier time with Good Night, Moon even though I couldn't make out every word. I dunno about Green Eggs And Ham as I haven't tried it yet.

Anyone want to comment on thier experince with audio books?

audio book

Deafskeptic i cant speak from experience but am doing alot of reading on getting a CI and I see over and over Peter and the Wolf being used for mapping. It has some light flute music playing I believe so you are getting a little music which I guess they want to see how this sounds to you. I havent heard it since I was a kid so I cant remember exactly.hope this helps.

I did that too. To begin with, I followed every word from the books and they weren't too clear. But gradually with every map, the speech took on tones and clarity. I also began to hear the sound effects in the background such as Tigger bouncing. It's a really good way to track your progress actually.

i tried.. its too overwhelm to me.. heck..

I notice myself the speakers isn't great for me... but normal human voice is easier to understand than the speakers.... speakers don't sound right or smooth to me..... know why anyone???? or is anyone same with me?

It could be that with a normal human voice, you are incorporating lipreading into interpreting what is being said. I have a theory that when you have more information, voices sound better. I remember when I tried watching TV without captions to begin with the male voices sounded very fuzzy and robotic. But when I put the captions back on, they suddenly seemed more natural. I could never figure that out. The brain is a lot more complex than we think.
