:hmm: I'm wondering about something...

I read through the threads and think about them and then think about 'em while I may be typing something in here too, so am thinking...

DEAF value =ASL as a way of BEING, complete, full, self-sufficient, no "outside" determinant, no boundaries

hearing value= ASL as a way of "doing", crutch, as a tool, means to end, ASL within limits, based on exterior determinants

Corollary?

Hearing = rabidly independent

Deaf = cooperative and community-oriented
 
Does it make "sense" to suggest the vast amount of people in this world now-hearing- are wholly circumscribed by "their hearing"? Are they really conscious of being part of the "hearing community"?

If so, why do we humans have "hearing/speaking" in the first place?

As for hypothesis: "Deaf as a way of being-what about all latedeafened persons-partial being?
As for no boundaries-deaf- a philosophical position hardly congruent with reality!

More pertinent observation: what about "deaf militants-all variants" into this discussions?

Hearing people are not aware of being part of a hearing community because the world at large is hearing. They take it for granted.

Deaf applies to all people with hearing loss - whether born deaf or late-deafened or partial hearing.

And what is no boundaries deaf?

And what is with your obsession with deaf militants? How can you be here for a year, read our stories, learn of our struggles in the hearing world then mock us as deaf militants when we fight for rights to be treated equally, not less than?

Have any of us regularly mocked and demeaned and condescended to you like you have to the Deaf? It's getting old fast.

More nonsense. Truth be known, none of your observations are pertinent.

You know, you keep referring to Deaf militants. How about you define for us all exactly what a Deaf militant is?

If I quote articles re "deaf militants"-out of date. Fall back position: DON'T EXIST.

So, find a recent article, and tell us what your idea of a deaf militant is. How would you recognize one when you met them? You have to have an idea of what a deaf militant is in order to use it as a descriptive around here.:cool2:
