I'm seriously considering going into either a degree in ASL interpreting or speech pathology. Since Elementary school I have somehow been involved in the deaf community, and everytime I drift away from signing, someone or something new pops into my life. Just when I'd almost fogotten about my love for signing and working w/ the deaf community, a friend of my moms asked me to babysit her 4 yr. old who's deaf.
It's just something about it, I feel like thats what I am called to do. I just can't imagine a more fulfilling job than knowing that this child is able to communicate b/c of me.
Any suggestions on colleges that offer these degrees? And is it possible to have a stable job in just the ASL field, or is everything pretty much self emlpoyed? Thanks you!
