Ask Dixie anything - really anything......

heh....If you could join the US military, what branches would you join and what would you like to do in the military?

I would join the Air Force (Gotta love the Blue) and likely my MOS (military occupational specialty) would be 91W or 91 Whisky - which is army for field medic, but the air force doesn't have that so Id likely be a Cable Communications Apprentice which is an enlistment career. Basically you lay communication wires all over the place and its a fairly good paying job in the civilian sector so I can only imagine what it pays with the air force. Now if I were a college grad - I would go directly to officer training and become an officer that learns how to fly - woohoo!:ty: Not only that you get to travel all over the world. A guy I went to school with finished boot camp and his first assignment was at Rammstein. He spent 2 years there then got to relocate closer to home to Jacksonville AFB here in AR.

If u had control over the government what would be your vision of how America should be. Like what changes would u make to make America a better country? Would u want to run for President?:giggle:

Suppose you could invite three well known figures (from presidents to writers to stars to athletes from past or present) to your house for your homecooked meal and hours long conversation tonight, who would they be and would they all three get along famously? Why or why not? :)

1.) Get a good for sure plan of how to get our troops out of Iraq without getting them killed by insurgents.

2.) Get the healthcare sector taken care of pronto. There are far too many American citizen's doing without routine basic medical care such as checkups due to a lack of insurance and skyrocketing costs. And more so - some hospitals and doctors are refusing to treat patients who don't have insurance fearing that they will not get paid. Clinics can turn you down for lack of insurance, but ERs can't, so many people are going to the ER for the flu, and other things that clinics would normally take care of. And because ER bills are almost three times as high as what a clinic would charge for the same procedures, many people are simply not paying these bills because they cannot afford them. And because hospitals are literally losing money out the back door more and more hospitals are being built WITHOUT an ER, which could set America up for a nationwide Katrina effect if healthcare isnt promptly dealt with.

I say lets look at the systems that Sweden, Canada, Australia, and the UK has and lets find out what makes it work and slowly phase our system to something similar over a period of years. For instance in Canada everyone has access to free healthcare, although lines can be long and you may have to schedule appointments months in advance. Sweden has the highest tax rate in the world of arounf 50% of their earnings. BUT all that is turned around into a generous welfare system for its citizens. Each citizen is guaranteed affordable healthcare, access to higher education, and other benefits. The US taxes roughly a third of our income, with more than double the total population of Australia you'd think we would have an awesome healthcare system but however we dont. Each citizen should be given an opportunity for state sponsored insurance. If they are between 21-65 its $200 for 6 mos coverage, all doctor visits require $45 co-pay, medicines are a $20 co-pay. OR you can pay $400 for a full year coverage $40-visit co-pay, and a $15 medicine co-pay. But this insurance is only available to those who are on a payroll for at least 6 weeks, their employer does not offer insurance coverage or you are not eligible for group insurance for 6 months. And also you are not receiving any SSI or SSDI.

If we're going to tax the hell out of the middle class you might as well turn some of it back around and offer the middle class some benefits from the monies paid in to uncle sam

Which brings me to another problem - liberal and risky spending of American tax payer dollars on studies that are not necessary, Congress keeps approving themselves a raise every session - but yet it takes them well over a decade to decide that the average American citizen needs a raise too. Also I dont see why the President needs such a large motorcade - 20+ vehicles. What the president needs is an armored vehicle, 2 bodyguards, a driver, a cell phone, and a medic.

I say everytime Congress think they should get a raise I say let the American's decide if they need a raise or not, put it on the November ballot every 4 years. Also ban lobbyists altogether from Washington - they are giving too many kickbacks to congressmen and women who vote a certain way.

And also lets secure our borders. Build a wall, have states whose borders share that of Canada or Mexico have a gaurd unit specifically designed to patrol the borders for illegals, drug traffickers, and also terrorists. We're under someone's radar and also there isnt much noticeable difference between a middle eastern man who is dark skinned with dark hair and that of a hispanic. These guys will pose themselves as Hispanics in order to get in this country sure its a little out there but its plausible. We've stretched our military too thin to effectively defend our home turf. Bring em home and bring em home safely.

And lastly lets stop the politics already - we've got to stop this either hardcore democrat or hard core republican stuff. Weve got to put our differences aside or otherwise we're simply going to rip ourselves apart and become even more vulnerable. Remember the ol' conquer and divide stradegy? Its happening folks and its happening right in Washington.

And for the record = yup Id love to run for President - Id be doing ALOT of housecleaning up there. :giggle:

OK Im off my political soapbox for now.

Suppose you could invite three well known figures (from presidents to writers to stars to athletes from past or present) to your house for your homecooked meal and hours long conversation tonight, who would they be and would they all three get along famously? Why or why not? :)

Hmm thats a good question, Im going think long and hard on my response since there are so many figures I find fascinating and others I just want to plain understand.

1.) President Franklin Delano Roosevelt: Longest running president and I found him to be an amazing leader when we studied him in 8th grade history. I keep telling myself one of these days Im going to just sit down and do a complete study on him since there is just so much about him to learn. Some of his greatest accomplishments include but not limited to:
1- elected to four terms as president - longest serving President in US History. Now there is a two term limit for US Presidents.
2- He created the "New Deal" to help provide for the unemployed during the Depression years. His administration initiated such programs as the FDIC, and the Social Security Administration. He also turned our economy around through full employment through expansion of industry, WPA and Civilian Conservation Corps.
3- He supported the UK during WWII even before the attack on Pearl Harbor which pulled America into the fight and put 16 million American men into uniform including both of my grandfathers, one of which is now deceased.
4- He helped to create the United Nations which is an international peacekeeping organization and helped to shape the post-war world.

You can tell he had an amazing mind to work through problems and get them resolved. Unforunately one of our generations biggest problems is SS, its quickly draining - there will soon be more people retired than those actually working and paying in SS taxes.

MY next guest would have to be Ellen Degeneres - sweet, smart, sexy, and funny all wrapped into one person. Between me and her we could easily keep FDR rolling with laughter at the dinner table. She's funny without tearing others down and thats what makes me respect her so much. So many of todays comedians think you have to make bad jokes about someone just for a few laughs - she's different. She seems like she would be alot of fun to hang around with. Maybe I need to call her up sometime and invite her down for some coffee at a local diner.

The third guest would probably be Darren Hayes- I personally find him to be an interesting person with alot more compassion for the world than most of his fellow celebrities. He doesnt flash around, he doesnt make his private life public, and he keeps a level head. You can tell through his writing that he is an exceptionally sensitive person by which I mean that when he feels something it really kicks his senses and he truly feels it. His music isnt trash, its really something worth listening to. Plus he's very intuitive, creative and knows how to put feelings onto paper then turn it into a likeable song.

There ya go!

Have you been to Mountain Home?

Watching deaf porn..... just kidding

Im really surfing around for a new DSLR Camera, they are expensive but well worth it in my opinion.. Im looking at this one right now:

Sony Cyber-Shot 8.1 Megapixels, quick shutter speed and adjustable settings as well as auto setting. 15x zoom. Should make for some good nature shots this fall right about late October to mid-November. Only $400 bucks after taxes :afro:

That pix of the camera looks really tempting, but recently I purchased a lovely FujiFilm s5700 SLR/Digital camera as it is 7.1 Megapixel and 10x zoom and it is taking fantastic pictures already! (See more on my other thread on my trip to Perth) so the question on this topic is, if you purchase that, would you be keen to do a small competition to see who is the best at photography?

:giggle: u know im kidding u.. hehehe

Ever experienced the earthquake?
Fortunately, no.
Have you been to Mountain Home?
Yes, several times actually, but I havent been there in the last 2-3 years. My parents however are going up there during the first weekend of October for a Fly Fishing Conclave. I didnt go last year because I had decided to run Narcan in a Hunt Test instead which turned out to be a $45 donation to the Hunting Retriever Club of America,

What was your longest vacation you ever took?
As a kid - 2 weeks spent in Gunnison Colorado, which is about 30 minutes south of Crested Butte. Ive been all over that state - I love it up there! As an adult the longest vacation Ive taken is 3-days.

Are you a tomboy?
Yup very much so a tomboy - as a matter of fact I started up a conversation about shotguns with another woman the other day without even thinking about it.

:afro:

Where do you go to see wildlife in Arkansas? :)
