Do you sign up with Cingular or Verizon? If so, which plan do you use?

I'd like Palm Treo 700w (Windows Mobile 5.0) with a data plan from Verizon which I really like to use Windows Mobile instead of Sidekick's Danger OS or Blackberry OS. I have Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Standard Edition and I thought about having my own application use smartphone's capabilities like when I translate from text to TTY tones and send the tones over the voice network without requring an external TTY machine -- a hassle to connect two devices via cable (Why do I want to carry a Palm Treo 700w and an Ameriphone Q90-D Portable TTY machine? Two QWERTY devices don't make sense).

I'd love to see that happen. What programming skills do you have?

I think the fundamental problem with TTY tones on cell phones is that you have to get the phone itself to send those tones. Right now, no one has ever programmed a phone to send those tones. It's always another external device like a portable TTY that has to make those tones and send them through the phone's microphone input.

If you can program TTY tones on Windows Mobile, I'd buy that program.

I'm programming using C#, a modern language by Microsoft. I don't know if it's feasable to use some of the smartphone's capabilities like for opening a phone line, dialing a number, listen for TTY tones, etc. but bear in mind that I don't have any Windows Mobile devices.

I do have images to show you. It's an early work-in-progress.

My program I'm developing allows you to choose if you want to make a direct TTY-to-TTY call or send a relay through an IP-Relay. Plus, you can also receive calls from my program with your phone. But of course if you are not using an unlimited dataplan, you can dial 711 and make a phone call over the relay service just as if you make a relay call over an IP-Relay. For IP-Relay, my application uses My IP Relay for relay communication.

But only if I have a pager like Palm Treo 700w or Motorola Q. I have to wait until I rent an apartment so I can establish my credit.

Just to let you know that I've decided to drop my development of my TTY over IP-Relay/Cellular Voice Network application for Windows Mobile and I've read the AllDeaf Newsletter and saw the T-Mobile Blackberry 7250 for free with no credit check and went ahead and buy it. I didn't see it in DeadPagers.com but in Garth Wireless which I've done a search in MSN.com. Well, I'll miss Windows Mobile but it's alright... :P I'm a Windows fanatic but because of the costly data plans from Verizon for Motorola Q or Palm Treo 700w :(, I just went with the Blackberry.

With "My IP Relay," I can be able to make/receive calls wirelessly through Blackberry, if only I have the My IP Relay application installed in Blackberry. :)

Each phone device and service comes with pros and cons. To put it simple:

Pros for Palm Treo 700w with Verizon Wireless:
Windows Mobile 5.0! :)

Cons for Palm Treo 700w with Verizon Wireless:
Expensive data plan

Pros for Blackberry or Sidekick with T-Mobile:
Good for the deaf community who use IP-Relay

Cons for Blackberry or Sidekick with T-Mobile:
Not very familiar with Blackberry OS or Sidekick's Danger OS.

This is my opinion and my point of view. You can disagree with me if you want but don't take it seriously or personal. I'll probably get used to Blackberry and Blackberry's operating system but if there's a $29.99 or $39.99 data service for Palm Treo 700w (the only one I'd like since Motorola Q doesn't have MS Word or Excel), I'd go with that but I just went in with Blackberry and I can live with that.

So, any Windows Mobile fanatic who are deaf and wanted my application that can let you make/receive TTY calls without an external TTY hardware, I don't want to disappoint you but I had to cancel my development of my application.
