As "Eye" See It: A Deaf-Blind Perspective

I did not realize that 50% of the deaf population has Usher's. Really? That number never came across my mind, I thought it would have been much lower, like 20-25% of the population.

I think you misread. 50% of the D/HoH with vision problems have Ushers or some type of Ushers. Ushers is pretty common. I know a few people with some degree of Ushers.

Not 50% of the D/HoH population. :)
 
Oh, my bad. Thanks for pointing that out. Yeah, I've misread it. I have read somewhere on the internet that 4 babies out of every 100,000 have Usher Syndrome.
