I'm currently wearing Phonak Naida IX S UP, I went from Seimens to Naidas. It was a big leap for me to do this, I went to see my old audiologist in NYC where I used to grow up, and she was really wanting me to try the Phonaks because of the technology. I have severe hearing loss with my right being worse than the left, and I always have liked having a lot of power in my hearing aids. I was skeptical because the first time Phonak Naidas came out 4 years ago, I hated them but the audis I had didn't know how to customize and program it well, so I wasn't hearing it the way I should have been. So my audi has programmed it in the best way possible...we went back and forth a lot for a 2 month period - I have had three trial hearing aids, we were trying to do as much as we can and try out different options - but all trial were Phonak Naida's. Since she is in NYC, we wanted to make sure it was perfect so I didn't have to keep going back there.

Anyways - my first trial hearing aids had some weird issues when I came back home. The left side was sound really low and cutting in and out. My remote kept saying the battery low even though I'd change it few times, and it was saying low which is weird because that's what it sounded like but the battery wasn't low if that makes sense. There wasn't any moisture in it and filters were brand new, so I had to use the 2nd pair of trial hearing aids since these wouldn't work. I tried them on again after a week, and still same issues. My 2nd pair was fine, but there was certain times where it felt like sometimes beeping would go haywire for a minute, and sometimes felt like volume would cut in and out. It was a lot of weird little bugs. So when I went back to my audi, we fixed all the issues & made adjustments, and everything sounded so perfect. I no longer had a love/hate relationship, and I LOVED it. I had it for 2 weeks and everything was perfect - but at the end of the 2 weeks, i noticed in my right ear which is my worse ear, it felt like sounds would get lower all of a sudden? It went back to normal at the end of the night but the next day it did it again and stayed like that all day. I saw my audi, and she was thinking it was me, or that its because its my worse ear. She had a hard time believing that phonak naiads could be that buggy. So we left it as it is because her changing programs, volumes, etc wasn't doing anything and she didn't want to do anything because it could be my "perception". It's been two weeks since then, and I am going crazy because its been SO low on my right ever since and i hate it! I feel so deaf in my right...and I was venting to my audi last night and saying I'll just go to Phonak myself and return them or complain and get new ones. She didn't want me doing that, and asked me to ship them to her, and she'll send it in to Phonak to look and repair them, and I'd have to wear my old hearing aids for about 2 weeks which I'm really upset about because it took me a long time to really adjust to the new technology and get used to prescribed compression that I feel like I can't hear as good on my old seimens. So the craziest thing happened after that...it switched sides...so now my RIGHT is loud and my left is low! And it's been stuck like this ever since...I was hoping that it'd get back to how it was before after having it off all night, but nope. I liked it when my right was low at least since my left is my good ear, and by having my right loud, its making me a bit dizzy and gave me little headaches. I hate these things and want to throw it in the garbage.

Ok...sorry had to rant & vent a little bit, and I know this is long..but I don't know what to do. I know my audi my whole life because her parents and my parents were close, and it was a crazy coincidence that she ended up as an audi at my old deaf school...I don't want to go behind her back and go to phonak because it'll make her look bad. My boyfriend suggested I go back to seimens but I love the technology...do seimens have the same technology? What do I doooo?? :-/

I have hearing aids that has tech specs pretty close to Siemens, check out Oticon and they offer the Chilli for severe-profound (mine is the kid verison)

I was like you when the Naida first came out. Tried it out for about 3 months and I wasn't happy with it, and the former audie couldn't get it right. So I gave it back, and stuck to my old hearing aid. 2 years later I decided to give the Naida another try (new audie at the office), and I kept it, as it was much better. Also helps that the new audie knew how to work with Naidas, since her husband wears them as well. It took maybe 2 adjustment appointments and I haven't gone back in more than a year for an adjustment. I don't know, maybe you just need some more tweaking with your Naidas, or contact Phonak for some ideas. Has your audie tried calling Phonak about your issues? I'm sure a Phonak rep could even come out to your audie's office and help if it was needed.

If you're still in the trial period, try Oticon. Apparently Safari's are supposed to be good. I'm only familiar and used to Phonak so I couldn't tell you anything about Oticon or any other hearing aid manufacturers out there.

and there's models that are similar to mine (same design, different model)
if U love colors, try the Safari SP. (JennyB has the 900 in the same color as mine.)

I've had nothing but trouble with my Nadias... they keep breaking.
was taking one in this morning for repair... had it in my shirt pocket. Lost the damn thing when I got there
