From a technological point of view , that is just a CI ( with a shorter electrode ) + hearing aid.
Med-el is also one of the three manufactures that have FDA certification in the USA. I have no first hand knowledge of the device , but I would assume that there would be minimal legal / regulatory issues with the device.
