I'm not really worried about this but I just thought I'd ask.

I just had the stitches removed from my CI surgery last Friday. They gave me a piece of paper with instructions and it said that "You can apply vitemin E and Aloe to help the healing process".

Just wondering if any of you found anything like this helpful. Like I said, no big deal really. I don't have any issues with mine at all. But you know, if someone knows something that makes healing better and faster then there's nothing wrong with that. :)

Right now I just have some numbness. The entire top portion of my ear is numb. They said to expect some numbness so I don't think that's anything to worry about though.

most doctors will tell you to leave it alone. I never had any who told me what I can do to speed up the healing... all they told me to take pain reliever for pain.

but I have heard from people that a warm (not hot) padding can speed up healing for some wounds and bruises. For bruises, you have to apply cold to slow down the swelling as soon as you got injured, and then apply warmth to speed up the healing. I'm not sure if it is safe for implant surgeries though.

Hi Ron .... I mentioned in another thread that I too had CI surgery on November 17th, just one day before you did.

When I was discharged from the hospital, I asked the nurse if I should use anything to help the incision heal, and she suggested using a bit of polysporin if I wanted to. Had my staples and stitches removed this past Thursday (Nov. 26th). I haven't used anything on my surgery incision, and it seems to be healing quite nicely.

In the past, I have used both vitamin E and aloe vera to help heal other cuts in other locations. I've found aloe vera to be quite helpful in speeding-up the healing process. It also seemed to reduced the redness and itching, and left the scar less visible as well.

If you want to try the aloe vera route, I suggest you visit a flower or plant shop, and get yourself an actual aloe vera plant. Then you can simply break the stems on the plant and apply the juice directly onto the place you want to heal. As I say I've done this in the past and it has worked wonders!

I never put anything on my incison after removal of the steri strips, just left it to nature. Hardly see it after 16 and half months.

No worries. Just be patient and it will heal. If you want, you can do what they advise you to do.

I will say that the numbness will take some time. It is simply the nerves of the skin for touch have to regenerate themselves. My right ear (implant side) took quite a while before I could "feel" with it normally.

I don't have any helpful info. Just hope that you're healed and feeling better soon!

Thanks guys.

Like I said. I wasn't really worried about it at all. Just curious. If something is good to do I'd do it. :)

Thanks again.

The good thing to do is , follow the docs orders to the letter. Be very very very careful and very very very patient...

Good luck
