Using ASL doesn't make one really deaf or does self defining oneself either. Correct? I am NOT confused about real deafness-SILENCE. No I haven't discussed my deafness with a psychologist to determine if I am imagining that.
Obviously I don't subscribe to the theory of doing NOTHING with my increasing hearing loss over extended time. ASL doesn't bring in sound- to the best of my knowledge. As you should be aware one can't go back 50 years and change the past. Another one of Dr Phil's thought.About 6-8 years ago I discussed with my then ENT doctor at-St MIcheals/ENT clinic if an Cochlear Implant would improve" hearing" over using my then current Phonak LL6 Hearing aid. His opinion -it would NOT. When I became deaf December 20/06 and requesting immediate referral he was on holidays! The head doctor saw me, read my extensive file and immediately referred me to the Cochlear Implant section-Sunnybrook/Toronto The process started in Feb/07.Fortunately successful so far.
Do you subscribe to the message of genocide of the deaf by ENT doctors as discussed in Ch 14? Is that ravings of crackpots? Gee does that include ME as a deaf person-genocide candidate? Is that reality?
Why you label Rick 48 an audist bully- I have no idea. He did mention that you are hearing person with a deaf daughter(age?) and "declined an implant". Factual statement? To me that was your choice as such-no comment.
