Have i ever heard of "cultural" deafness vs real deafness? Yes! That is why it doesn't make any sense to me- especially since December 20, 2006 from ACTUAL EXPERIENCE. The date I became bilaterally deaf. I have mentioned before- a lot of "deaf culture" info came from the book: A Journey into the DEAF-WORLD Harlan Lane, Robert Hoffmeister & Ben Bahan Dawn Sign Press San Diego California 1996 512 pages. Toronto Public Library 305.90816 LAN. All 3 are Professors. Of interest to this discussion- I just checked the index-no reference to "pathological OR non pathological deafness". Pace Jillio: I have the book in front of me-not my imagination. Have you read it? Do you agree with their diatribe: The Hearing Agenda 11" Eradicating the DEAF-WORLD? chapter 14?
Isn't the heading of this thread- Hearing Aid & Cochlear Implants which I have. I have been dealing with Hearing loss for over 50 years and now deafness for the last 4 years.
Thanks Rick for the the info on Jillio-something didn't make much sense to me previously- it now does. I have been here only since July/10
