Some random thoughts on reading above comments. To the best of knowledge the patient getting the Implant is NOT awake and whatever surgical tools required- the surgeon decides. My operation was at Sunnybrook/Toronto in July 07 and don't recall any discussion what tools he used. I have an Advanced Bionics-Harmony model. No complaints so far.Implanted Advanced Bionics-Harmony activated Aug/07
