Another intersting Question

Er...what is the question?

That a HA and CI are different in how they function to provide hearing?

I was trying to find some comparison of effectiveness

I was trying to find some comparison of effectiveness, this was the only article that I could find that came close.

As the last article was written 2000-2001, some things have changed since then.

Overall, the comparison is still fairly accurate.

Some of the changes for a CI is that nobody has to have a body processor anymore. The BTE style processor is the processor of choice. Another difference is that the processors give ample warning that the batteries will give out soon. I don't think the low frequency consonant discrimination is an issue anymore. I sure don't have any problems in that respect.

As far as the reason for getting a CI, it really comes down to the fact one isn't really getting any benefit anymore from a HA(s). Then getting a CI makes sense in those circumstances.

In terms of effectiveness, all things being equal unless one has "too" much hearing, a CI is better hands down in my opinion.
