After so many years, music is calling me back.

In the early to mid 1990’s, I was involved in a serious, professional rock band – Bad Habit – that was about to make its initial introduction to the world. David Geffen, yes, the David Geffen himself, heard our studio recordings and said that the music was good but the vocals needed help. So we told our singer to take vocal lesson by the vocal coach of Gloria Estefon herself! He refused and thus our band fell apart at our feet.

Today, I have not even picked up the electric bass guitar since the band dismantled. About three years ago our guitarist, a true badass guitar man, died of cancer. Yesterday was the guitarist's birthday; so we all met at his burial place - the drummer, me and some old friends from the band (groupies) – and we talked about the good old days when I made a suggestion to the drummer that maybe, just maybe, may happen. I said that maybe him and I could hook-up and play some music again. It just came up, on the spot, the idea and together we filled in the gaps. He gives me a thumb up on going forward with it and I agreed.

So now it looks like music is calling me back…pretty cool right?

Most definatly cool.

I played Bass for a while and found myself in limited band expirience but it was still expirience lol

My friend was a bass player for a garage band and they did parties, pizza parlors things like that... anyway he broke his hand when he was wrestling his friend, fell and broke his wrist. Band had a "big show" in 5 days! LOL "big show" to them was this chicks birthday party but about 50-60 people were expected to show up so anyway instead of bailing out of it, he tapped me on the shoulder, simplified my bass lines and only had about 3 practices to prep for a setlist that included maybe 6 songs and 2-3 covers. The first 2 practices were pretty terrible, i was fucking up all over the place but i was somehow on the right path....they werent worried though cuz they just figured everyone would be fucking wasted anyway and since people are tone-deaf at most shows my shortfalls would go unnoticed.

So the 3rd practice came and went and i did a LOT better and thus the next night was showtime. Adrenaline completely took over and nailed every fucking note. A few killians irish reds helped as well but it was pretty badass. :D

I ended up playing 2 more parties until my friend decided he wanted his old job back and i stepped down. I tried to get another band together but it never came together, people had jobs, school, girlfriends blah blah so that was pretty much it as band expirience goes, but i do have friends who play and over the years we'd just jam and play certain covers, chill and have a good time.

But music never leaves and glad to hear youre back in the game man.

Thanks!

The drummer and I will play a country, folky instrumental music with vocal harmonies and jazz sprinkled here and there. I will play the bass, guitar and the bugle (see picture below). The bugle is a larger trumpet with a warm, full tone. I think it will blend in nicely.
