My mom got pair of Otcicon Sumo XP, and so far she is adjusting to them. Audie recommended to start wearing them for two hours and then gradually increase the time. However, she just doesn’t want to take them off, as they feel soooo good comparing to her sudden profound hearing loss and inability to hear anything without them.
Is there any danger if she wears them all the time, although she has them for only three days now? There are no signs of headaches, she is not tired and everything looks fine.

Thanks,
Ed

There is no any risk of danger as long as she feels comfortable wearing her aids. She can wear the aids all day long . Some people quickly adjust wearing hearing aids ,she is one of them

If she handling it ok, go for it. Many HA users get new pair HA's and doesn't change wearing. It's first timer that usually advised to having incremental increases in wearing the aides. With new auditory stimulation and sounds experience, it can cause headache, tinnitus, vertigo among others. If no negative symptom- keep wearing.

i started right away wearing my ha all day the same day i got them. My audi was amazed! My ha has data logging so it tells him how long i wear them and the avg #of hrs a day they are on as well and he was astonished my first week i wore them for an avg of 9 hrs a day

if she feels fine keeping them on all day, no headaches or sensitivity to sounds, then it's fine. Everyone's comfort levels are different.

Wow, thats amazing. I had like 4 weeks to I adjusted and rerecognizing everything....was just too much stimulation that I am used to. after adustments and time no headaches and everthing perfect normal seemingly

I like wear them all day. Sometime I don't wear them for 1 day. Because my left BTE need adjust. I want my ha to be same level instead of not level. I have an appointment with Audiologist next Wednesday at 10 clock. I don't like wear one HA. I like both HA because I can hear better than one.

My first ha was an oticon delta..but that was for mild hearing loss and the audie never mentioned a time limit. Since it was OE, it never gave me problems. When my hearing got worse, I switched to the widex inteo pro and was miserable for weeks. Had trouble getting the ear mold in "just the right spot" so I had a lot of pain and soreness. It is much better now that I make sure I use a mirror and my fingers to find the right spot, but the ear canal itches like a mofo (pardon the language). I have to drag it out several times a day to get some relief. I have ordered some anti-itch cream just for ears but it has not arrived yet.

I wear my hearing aid all day and then take them off in the night when i go to bed and i put it in my speical box that helps it to clean and not get ruined by humid weather.

Some people are definitely allergic to the molds. I know that Lloyd's has a home earmold kit where you take impressions itself, and they send you the molds. I have heard of at least 4-5 people who are allergic to the Lloyd's molds.

I have worn my HA's all day from day one. I was told to ease into it, but I was so thrilled to be hearing better that I hated to take them off. Most of the time I still do hate taking them off, though sometimes it's nice to be in a quiet land again. :)

I'm told that when I got my HA for the first time at 2 1/2 years old, my parents were told to just let me wear it for a couple of hours to get used to it but when my 2 hours were up, I refused to let my mother take it off.

I can so relate! I love to wear my HAs but I love just as much the "down time" where all is silent. Especially weekends. I find I enjoy my coffee and the outdoors in the mornings when I'm not wearing my HAs.

I got the exact same kind she did. And my audiologist also recommended just doing a few hours a day because they are so powerful. But I wore my all day from the start and had no problems. :)
