:scatter: Having a smoking section in a restaurant is like having a peeing section in a swimming pool. :scatter:

Agreed! And what's worse is that non-smokers become second-hand smokers being in the same room or building with the smokers that smoke up the room or building!

:smoking: Oh sorry, wrong room.

Better mount a stronger vent where the smokers area in a restaurant, and it'll suck up the cigs into the vent. :D

But it don't get rid of the harmful chemicals found inside these death sticks. Therefore, the venting system is pretty much useless.

Where I live now, banned smoking anywhere inside. Malls, resturant, and most bars too.. If you don't like smokers inside, u could try to convince the gov't to create those ban in your community.

City of Chicago has been on a on-going debate on banning smoking at public places. Bars and resturants are concerned that banning smoking will affect their business negatively, but look at other states/cities like NYC, California, etc. They may struggle at first but they'll eventually adapt and blossom. I'm hoping for anti-smoking to pass so I can enjoy going to deaf social and leave without smelling like an ashtray.

Yes, and the government of Ontario recently passed a new law enforcing a complete ban on public smoking. The toughest anti-smoking law in North America from what I know. It will be enforced by June 2006.

Here in Norway they are that far. No smoking allowed even in restaurants and pubs. It's great - at least, that's how I feel.

In Australia, not allow to smoke in shopping mall, resturant, pubs, casino, school car park, movies etc!!

(That's why I gave up smoking because it makes me feel like a criminal to smoke outside watching people looking down at me, make me feeling guilty and the cost of cigarette go up I can't afford to keep it up!!!!) I gave up five and half years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is not cool to smoke it smell YUK!!

We don't have ban law for smokers here in Germany but Public Healthy Department.

There're alot of Germans smoke outdoor than indoor automaic. We have area for smoker and non-smoker in any resturants but most German smokers prefer to eat non-smoking area and smoke outside. :dunno:

Common of German smoke outside before go into any shops, that's why the government see no necassary to make a law to ban smokers.

There're more and more Germans give up smoking since Euro convertion.

Interesting, sounded like German have more respect for non smokers.

I remember when I was in Germany, in offices they would smoke! I was surprised! This was in 1996. I don't know if they still do it.

In the Fachhochschule where I attended school, they had this one corner for smokers only, and the rest of the building was smoke-free.

Many of my German friends, even smokers, will not smoke in houses. They go outside to smoke.

As for Utah... we have a public smoke ban, banning smoking within 15 feet of any building. It's very weakly enforced though. My workplace has a special booth for smokers outside, it's like a bus stop but it's enclosed somewhat. It's 15 feet from the building.

Many of the nightclubs are non-smoking in Utah. When we go to restaurants, we take it for granted that the whole restaurant is non-smoking. When we went to Colorado recently, we were not used to the "smoking or non-smoking" question.

I heard that in California, there are many bars and nightclubs that are non-smoking.

Yes, it was long time ago... Now no more. No smoke allow in the office but smoking room or outside accord Public Health Department "law".

Yes, there are still the same as usual. They have like this in every school or buildings.

Yes, it´s very common that Germans smoking outside. They respect non-smokers when they don´t like to have them to smoke in their house or in their car.

Interesting to know that they have the ban law for the smoking. I think German should have the law like this but it´s not necassary because the smokers respect non-smokers...

I used to be a smoker - would light up anywhere, any place, any time... no matter what the occassion was...now that Ive quit smoking, I found it soooo easy to find the smokers wherever I go...I just follow my nose.

Also, even when you've quit smoking, you're still an smoker...just labeled as an ex-smoker...so I think I'm in the wrong room, too.

I need an ex-smoker room...where's the nearest exit?
