some of u may know that i have been using nuclear 22 for ever since i was 9 years old but cuz i lost it to someone else 3 yrs ago i did not have a CI for 3 years so i just got new CI and it was updated to ESPrit 3G last tues then i got the worst tennitius i ever had in my whole life last thurs and couldnt sleep very well and well i still cant sleep well but last nite the exhaustion caught up to me and i have been sleeping well last nite for first time in 6 days. i got my CI remapped yesterday and still cant tell the difference. i have new appt on march 15 for tinnitius.

now...

im getting speech/hearing therapy and just set up an appt for that on march 29 for evaction.

now let me tell u something... i did not expect to get many ci moments since i got most of them when i was 9 or 10 yrs old however i did get some of them. it was amazing how huge difference it was compared to nuclear 22 and ESPrint 3G. much more clear and more details. so far no static like walking through the metal detector and etc. i couldnt hear sirens before... now i can. i couldnt tell the difference between female and male voice... now i can ... most of time. i could hear my cat purring which was surprising to me cuz i couldnt hear that before. another thing.... my brain seem to remember lot of sounds cuz i could idenifty most of it... but the amazing thing was locating them. once on the bus i kept hearing something and cant tell what exactly what it was... so i boldly walks around the bus with a notepad saying "i heard something but i do not know what it was please excuse me while im hunting it down trying to learn what it was" lot of people helped me... i walked all way to the back of the bus and i somehow knew it wasnt there but i could hear it. i finally walked to driver and thats when CB radio came alive... and something made me glance right at that radio... and i was like..."THATS WHAT I HEARD!" (i didnt know bus had CB radio or where it was... how did i know it was there or that the sounds was coming from there?!?)

also few nights ago i kept hearing something so soft at home and i cant figure what it was. so i turned off tv, turned off teamspeak that kevin was using, turned off heater and i still hear it so i walked around and finally it seem louder in kitchen and thats when i realized i can hear the refrigerator running. i was like WHOA! i could hear that despite the fact that tv was on, and kevin was talking his head off on teamspeak and plus both computers was running oh and i was typing and the keyboard is making loud clicks. holy cow!

after i got my CI remapped... now i can hear my voice clearly and i can hear female voices cuz it doesnt sound so muffled anymore. (before i got it remapped i couldnt even hear my own voice which was very strange and i had to force my voice to go low so i can hear it LOL. ) i also got on ventrilo (a voice program on pc) and got to hear a russian voice... it was really interesting to hear that cuz it was very very low! and i noticed all voices sound different somehow i cant tell you why it is different or how it is different it just sound different to me... this is what i meant by this new CI is much more detailed and more clear... cuz before all voices sound same to me.

okay i guess thats all for now. i suppose i might get more CI moments as i go along. and hopefully speech/hear therapy can help me a little on how to understand more noises i hear especially with words... but im not holding my breath.

maybe some of u who are hearing could help me with the questions like how could i know where sounds came from or that it is the sound that i was looking for. also how i could tell the difference between 2 voices now.

just wanted to kid...

You have been using Nuclear 22 ( <-- radioactive technology eh? ) since you got it and you haven't died yet and you still have hair on your scalp so that's strange!

hehe I know you mean Nucleus 22 *snicker*

Ok on serious note: great moment you have!

regarding Bus, yeah my city bus has those communication system. either via speaker or switched to private and talk thru handset (like phone) even PA for announcing street name intersection (in some old bus while most has automated PA system) also when someone pull the wire or push the tapewire for requesting stop the PA announced "Stop Requested" and the most annoying thing on bus is squeaking of the brakes eh

Good luck on your speech/hearing therapy..

oh yea! brakes hurts my ear! i could tell right away that this sound was the brakes. it seem even more worse outside when bus stops right front of u. made me wonder how people can stand it LOL

Yeah we all suffer that at the bus stop. They think the same thing I think about the squealing brake. I would say "they need to do something with the brake" and they would agree with me. Alas we can't do anything about that because it is not Bus only.. cuz when we wait at the bus stop near the intersection, we could hear several squealing from cars or trucks. oh well.

hm true lol but in downtown theres too many noises for me to take in... however the bus that stops right in front of me ... i definitely notice the noises coming from that bus LOL.

Simple solution is!!!! move into the country lol... with no buses around .. oh boy I think it'll make me go insane if I have to hear that squeaking all the time ... ouchie!! I think hearing got use to it for many years as this is a new sound we all have to tolerate... BLESS your HEARt!!!

Congratulation SpiceHD on your new CI. I'm happy for you!! ;)

SpiceHD,

Great CI moments!

Yea, I can relate to those brakes. Very loud. Also, trucks and buses are the worst in engine sounds. My brain used to get squished everytime I heard them for the first six months or so.
