A new device called a SoundBite allows hearing through teeth.

I understand can help those with Bone conduction problems. Has no value for those with Sensorineural loss.

It's the NEW gizmo that the Polyester Pants Brigade will be wetting their pants over.
We don't need new technology. Virtually ALL conductive losses respond well to traditional amplifiation. This is going to sink without a trace.

:eek3: Really?

This is quite interesting... Makes you wonder what they will come up with next... If it's functional and beneficial I think that's great.

It works for both sensorineural and conductive loss...

"SoundBite™ is a bone conduction prosthetic hearing device. Prosthetic hearing devices produce the perception of sound by replacing the function of the middle ear, cochlea, or auditory nerve. As long as one cochlea is functional, SoundBite Hearing System allows sound to travel via the teeth, through the bones, to the functioning cochlea, bypassing the middle and outer ear entirely. By using bone conduction via the teeth, SoundBite is intended to help patients who suffer from Single Sided Deafness or Conductive Hearing Loss rejoin the conversation of life, all without surgery."

I met someone at the audiologist today who was very happy with his Soundbite. He said it was the first time in 15 years he was able to talk on the phone using his deaf ear.

Seems to be a great technology, only downfall seems to be that it's only for people with SSD.

This is pretty cool. It won't work for me but still pretty cool stuff.

must get noisy when you eat or drink too imagine all the grit, crunch and slooshes...and gurgles lol
