I learned that some people think saying a thing over and over makes it fact. Then when another wishful thinker agrees, it becomes a universal law.
The second part of that lesson is everything they say becomes automatically suspect. Not necessarily wrong, but if my watch said noon and one of those people agreed, I'd carefully check my watch.
