I saw this on TV and the kid was so calm when he was telling what happen , I hope parents will also stay away from areas not safe for swimming .
There signs up warning people of the water in a pond may pose risk to pets and human and you would not believe how many parents allow their kids to play in the water . Kids learn from parents and some parents are teaching their kids that they not have pay attention to signs that warn of any kind of risk or danger.

Horrific!...Bet the kid will never forget this encounter....also was on the news that a 13-ft. alligator actually jumped into a canoe that a girl was in and bite her on the thigh.....She managed to get away...

Wow! Both these kids will have stories to tell when they go back to school .
I am glad they're still alive to tell their stories.

The lakes and ponds are risky because you can't see the gators hiding underwater. I probably wouldn't swim in those waters whether it's gator/snake infested or not. I seen some cases gators take a swim in your backyard pool and you can clearly see it.

Those gator monsters is dangerous and can tear you up in a matter or seconds/minutes.

I have a big lake out back and everyone in the area says there are no gators or snakes in it, but nope, I'm not going to test their words for it!

My parents send my older sister and me to a summer camp and I did not have a HA yet. So I did not hear the warning about putting your toes into
the water and almost lost a big toe to a snapping turtle . I guess the turtle thought my toe was a fish or something .

MattB , you could throw a piece of raw meat into the lake and see what happen.
