Last year, the United States government spent over $78,000 per second!

If we do the math, $78,000 x 60 seconds x 60 minutes x 24 hours x 365 days = $2,459,808,000,000!

Wow... that's way too much money!

According to the CIA website, the population of the United States is at least 295,734,134.

(Estimated to be 298,444,215 by July 2006.)

Let's suppose we decided to share that money with the American population instead.

$2,459,808,000,000 / 295,734,134 = $8,317.63 per person.

Oh, wait... I just realized something.

According to a demographics website, 75% of the overall population are 18 years of age or older.

75% of 295,734,134 is 221,800,601.

Let's start over using only adults instead of the overall population...

$2,459,808,000,000 / 221,800,601 = $11,090.18 per person.

Wow, that's a few thousand dollars more! Whew!

Okay, let's suppose everyone didn't work...

Each person would have $924.18 a month to spend.

According to the various apartment prices throughout the United States, the average price is $657 per month.

Let's suppose one person decided to live alone. Each person would have $267.18 left over.

$267.18 is enough to cover food and utilities.

What if more people lived together? Well, if that was the case... they would be spending less on rent leaving them with more money.

What about those who have kids? Well, if they have kids... they are most likely to be married or living with their partner. Again, they would be spending less on rent leaving them with more money to spend for the kids.

Wow, the money that the United States wasted could removed every homeless person from the streets and given a decent place to live without even having to work!

What may be deemed as money being wasted...can also actually be viewed as being constantly cycled endlessly by being channeled via every person who pays taxes--now that's even more of a far-fetching thought especially when countless of folks are stretching their hard-earned dollars hopelessly.

Although, at the rate of money being spent may indeed look outrageous, it's safe to say that some of this money is for vital reasons and shouldn't be looked as something totally 'bad'...but on the other hand, it would behoove us all to know that every 'cent' spent by the government is something that makes logical good sense...instead of just ridiculous 'waste'. Bluntly put, I'm sure a majority of the people would agree that a lot of this money is indeed being wasted frivously. ;)

Yes and dont forget that deficit too! and then toss in the national debt.

Dumbya and his boys sure spend em $ like drunken sailors!

Oh, yeah!

U.S. Gov't sure went oooout of control of our tax money spendings lately.

Congress approved for another spending for Iraq with $129 billion dollars recently.

What we need is the serious and professional accountant (CPA) to take a much tougher control of spendings from our own messy government.

They sure fail the economics 101 .. only our Prez Clinton was the only much wiser in the financial affairs itself in our recent memory. Maybe we all ought to revote for him! :ugh2:
