When I worked at Home Depot - you had to work 3 months to get insurance. On my third day I was approached by the store manager with a letter letting me know that I could get two CI's if I wanted to right there. Doesn't hurt to ask around. The higher ups (the ones with power) are hearing and more likely they would want to "fix" you. So, easier to have them make the phone calls.
