POLK COUNTY, Fla. — Three people were arrested in Polk County for selling moonshine on Facebook, deputies said.

Deputies got a tip that Alton Trowell, 31, was selling the alcohol on his Facebook page.

An undercover detective contacted Trowell through Facebook, but ended up speaking to Trowel’s live-in girlfriend, Christie Comkowycz, 31.

She offered the detective 192-proof grain alcohol for $20 a pint, deputies said.Comkowycz negotiated the sale of 12 pints for $240 and asked the detective if he was a cop.The two met at a store parking lot on Jan. 12 with another suspect, Dalton Ridlon, 20.

Once the illegal liquor, which was in mason jars, was exchanged for money, detectives arrested Comkowycz and Ridlon.

Comkowycz told detectives that Trowell had been arrested the night before by deputies on unrelated drug charges, and she continued to use his cellphone and Facebook page in an attempt to sell moonshine, to raise enough money for his bond.Deputies later searched Trowell’s home, where they found a 5-gallon container of moonshine, which the suspects said they do not make, they only sell.

Comkowycz told detectives she got the alcohol from Richard Lott, 48, who was later arrested by an undercover detective.
