15 Of the fattest USA states

http://stateofobesity.org/adult-obesity/

You can compare from 1990 to 2014.

In 25 years ago, most people were skinny but now, many of them are fat.

I just saw on the news that teenagers are getting surgery to lose weight.
WT?! The parents needs to start cooking healthier meals and stop feeding their kids so much and don't let sit them around the house all day . The surgery is not going to help unless you change the kids eating habits and get them to exercise more. Yeah kids were not fats when I growing up, we had to walk to school and in snow storms too , then walk back home for lunch
then back to school and home again. Now kids are being dropped right in front of their house by the school bus , I once saw a bus let one kid out
then stopped at a house 2 houses away from the last kid . I was
you mean a kid can't walk pass 2 houses to get home ???

the environment 30-50 years ago is a LOT different than how things are now so you cannot compare the two. There were fat kids back 50 years ago and there are skinny kids now (my niece & nephew are two of them- they're very active). The world as we know it now poses more dangers than it did back then (or we're more AWARE of them- bad things still happened back then).

Always amazes me how people romanticize their childhood years when that time period probably had about the same problems as there is now- and different ones than now. We didn't have AIDS in the 1950s-1970s (early part at least)...

Something does need to be done... one of the bigger problems is that there are many single parents who have to work so they don't know what to do with the kids- or at least to keep them safe and even when there are two parents BOTH parents have to work in order to keep ahead of bills (house mortage/rent, food, gas, electricity etc etc). Can't blame it all on "the parents need to start cooking healthier food and feeding them junk food" and "don't let them sit around the house all day". Some places they don't HAVE a choice but to stay indoors if they live in an area full of crime/violence and they don't have money to send them to whatever activity (nothing is free anymore).

Yes, there have always been fat and skinny kids. The difference is the weight at which people are now. I was a heavy kid growing up by by today's standard I would be normal size. When I look at the movie Fatso today he is a relatively average size for today yet very obese for the 70's. There are kids today over 200 lbs in junior high school.

All we had to worry about as kids of the 1950's and 60's was don't talk to strangers and being nuked out of existence by the Soviets.

I think one of the reason for the obesity is that we just have more conveniences today compared to 20 years ago. Kids didn't have Xboxes, cellphones, internet, etc.... so they had no choice but to go outside and play. I remember that researching homework meant a bicycle trip to the library. I got in shape fast when I had to do a paper.

And when I was in high school I was pretty skinny without organic and free-range food. Sometimes I'd eat ramen noodles for lunch for at least 4 months. I just didn't have the luxury of video games or computers to keep me entertained.

How was crime rate in 1950s?

There are people are eating at fast food more often, even I see a lot of families eating at McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, KFC because they are cheaper and more convenient to them. Sometime, school serve unhealthy food, especially fried food and ObamaLunch isn't going fix anything.

Many families told me that they are stressed with jobs and can't handle cooking so they go after fast food.

Very true but as my dad left wing socialist he said nuked out by America...and as I was cucko in the nest by an American he had a lot more to say about America rather unprintable.
This first generation that will out live their children because of diet

How was crime rate in 1950s?
That's a pretty broad question. That covers 10 years, and includes local, state, and national, and classes of crimes (burglary, battery, murder, rape, theft, etc.).

Here's one figure, to start with:

National Homicide Rate by year

Average 4.4 for 1950-59.
Average 5.3 for 2004-2013.

But there's this:

"The crime rate for serious crimes, including murder, rape, and assault, has dropped significantly since the early 1990s in part because of changes in technology and policing, experts say." (January 2012)

US crime rate lowest in decades

And this:

NCPA

Violent crime rates approach historic lows

So, there are a variety of conclusions.

Try this:

State and national crime statistics for the last 50 years

How was crime rate in 1950s?

There was a doctor that lived right across the street from our house and he was a black market doctor selling people babies to rich people who couldn't have babies. A woman went to my mom's house and asked if she knew anything about the doctor that lived across the street, the woman was a black market baby and was writing a book about it. The Dr. told parents their baby was terribly deformed and wouldn't live a day or some other crap like . The baby was most likely very beautiful and Dr. made more money on it. This was happen in the 50's right in my neighbor .

That's interesting.

I think worst crime ever will be 1980s due to crack epidemic.

Being a health aide was very stressful and I still cooked my meals , I didn't run to a fast food place.

I say this with credentials of being a hardcore fitness person who has done a lot with his own body.

There's so much more to what comprises your body than the big three: genetics, diet, and exercise.

One of the fastest ways I've seen people change their weight is through their emotions. Think about how much weight we pack on without trying when we're depressed or how fast we start looking good when suddenly we're glowing and radiant all the time.

I know we all have our opinions, but I find the best way for me to contribute to a healthy society is to act every way I can to inspire, uplift, and encourage all people.
