14 affected by CO2 in NJ

Very sad. I have co detectors in every room. Where i live it seems like every winter some family dies because of a bad furnace. (I think you're confusing co and co2)

CO2 is Carbon Monoxide. That's what it stands for.

Mine are just the regular kind. I have APD so if i had the talking kind i'd probably be like "what did that thing just say" :laugh2:

You just reminded me of that talking Fire Alarm Harper College in Palatine has. It's a very weird one. Talks like a robot, and very easily heard.

Hmm. I think you're right. I never could figure out the difference between the two, anyhow.

Carbon monoxide only has one oxygen bond to the carbon atom. (Mono being 1 and di being two.) This allows the carbon atom to bind with the iron in the hemoglobin so it can no longer carry oxygen.

What does it say? "Keep calm and don't panic."? :lol:

No. I last heard it nearly 7 years ago. Some college student thought it was a brilliant idea to pull the alarm with a bunch of deaf people there, and in February, of all months. That day was 42 outside, and a bunch of us were shivering. Really brilliant, indeed.

:laugh2: And that is just what happen with mine ! I should had tried to find a flashing one after my hearing dog Finlay dies. He was trained to warn me and he did a great job when I left a pan on my stove when the phone ring. Finlay came and got me , he felt so proud of himself too . :aw:

you should be able to tell the difference quite easily....

CO = Carbon Monoxide
CO2 = Carbon Dioxide

Mono means one
Dio means two
