I don't know how CHARGERs do with Aides. But, I can catch you up with what has happened as of late. Meggy had an MRI on Wednesday of her inner ear. What was found besides small ear canals, was that her hearing nerves were atropic (?). Basically her hearing nerves are smaller than normal. He said...

    is laughing a reflex?

Thanks for the link...I'll check into it. I would've gotten back sooner, but Meggy had an MRI of her inner ear on WED, and that night began vomiting up blood. After five large amounts, we went to the ER. She's home now, and I'm trying to catch up with life as it was. I didn't realize you...

Meggy's next step is to get an MRI of the inner ear. Concurently we are talking with our insurance company (grrrr) to see what route they want to take for hearing aids. My ENT said that he still wants to fit her with the aids to see if there is anything we can pull out to stimulate her brain. If...

Just a note to the few people I've met on all deaf. Meggy had her surgery and ABR today. The results showed nothing at 90 dbls. My ENT said the because of the severity of the hearing loss, it's safe to say that it is nerve damage. I still don't know if there is anything they can do, (our next...

Well, it is official. We got the results of the ABR today. You have another new member to the dhh world...and I have to say, I thought it would devastate me. It didn't. So many of you gave me such great support and interesting things to think about, that I realized this is not a big deal. Her...

    another parent of CHARGE child?

CHARGE association is similar to having a syndrome. But, it is classified as an association, because the birth defects can show up different groupings (associations), that a person cannot tell how each CHARGE'r will develop. CHARGE is an acronym. Each letter stands for a different birth defect.

    is laughing a reflex?

The screening is on July 5th after her surgery. I think it will be more than fluid loss, cause she is not respomding to really anything. They say when the fluid is removed, we'll know at what level the real loss is. No CAT scan of the ears...yet, just the brain which showed no abnormalities...

    is laughing a reflex?

Thanks, this is a great statement. Something to really think about. Okay, here is another dumb question...what is ASL? I live in Arizona, and no I am not a part of the American Society for deaf children. We are currently in OT, PT, feeding therapy, and developmental therapy. I have been in...

    is laughing a reflex?

Hi. I am new to this. I just had twins 8 months ago, and was devastaed to find out that one twin would need heart and esophagus surgery. Six surgeries, therapies 3 times a week, and a diagnosis of CHARGE Association later, now we are facing the possibility of her being deaf. She lived in the...
