Thank you for posting this... I have this argument all the time. I have never seen anyone in the Deaf community sign "welcome" in that context. They acknowledge the thank you, as said before, but there's no specific "You are welcome" sign. I cannot convince my hearing friends that I'm right...

When my son was born, I was pretty isolated. Tiny town in Montana, no deaf connections, and a family who has always not only been unsupportive of my hearing loss but actually denies that it exists. I had planned on him being bilingual--I'd sign with him, he'd get his English from my family...

This is why I chose a clinic that has strict limitations on the number of children can have the same donor... the limit is 5 unless it's the same couple.

Somehow, this helps me take things said to me a little less personally. Sometimes my friends think I can hear things that I can't... If I react to someone slamming the door or stomping, they take that as a sign that I can hear just fine. (hello, vibrations) I will see them talking out of...

The point I got out of it was that she was hit because she wasn't paying enough attention. Deaf or hearing, accidents are most likely when we are not paying attention to our surroundings. Or because someone else isn't. And sometimes, accidents just *happen.* Move defensively, I like it.

My old ha's would make this weird buzzy/clicking sound if a cell phone was ringing. It would start just before the ringing did, so for a while my friends thought I was psychic. I'd start yelling "Answer it, answer it" while trying to flip off my ha's. These ha's don't pick that up, so I'm...

I've seen a couple of people here sign chiro as something similar to "make" only with two C-hands.... looks like you're twisting the spine. I don't know if that's just a group sign, or if that's actually a sign. Did you see the link for the medical/tech dictionary in the ASL resources thread?
