Not necessarily so. I never had 100% hearing but I hear with my CI as if I had hearing at one time. To put it succinctly, I'm one of those high achievers with a CI and using the phone all the time and on it goes. BTW - That was my point! Auditory memories are just one part of the equation.

Take care of that with the doctor. I have several friends with a CI or two and several years at that. None of them including myself have experienced what you are dealing with.

Would that be so, then why doesn't everybody have the same outcome? That is part of the story but a part of it is the person themselves. Been there done that...

AMEN! CIs are far better than HAs anyday and for those who need a reality check...I have had both. The question of day...Why is it that everybody got an opinion...especially when they have no experience themselves? :roll:

All I know is that my audi told me the person who has 60 has a cochlear. She mentioned that I should eventually reach that given my ability with my CI.

That is great! I do know there aren't many that high! Hopefully, in the next couple of years I will be close to that. That being said, having a CI implies there is some upper limit and I suppose that depends on several factors.
