The most dangerous job you ever took?

Cool thread, dangerous jobs are interesting. I had some "dangerous" jobs when younger and braver. I only quitted one job, because it was too dangerous. It was as a nightwatch at a kind of mental ward. Ocassionally, I had to enter a room of a big, violent and mental retarded person, alone, in the...

Sure, not necessary audist. A hearing person can have more advantages if she know ASL.

Baby born deaf will get 'bionic ears' that could help him hear and talk

Ok, so that's one of endless situation depedent disadvantages. Why the obession with that situation and disadvantage? You don't happen beeing jealous at people who are happy with ASL and find no disadvantages in not using speech and ears, while it creates tons of problems for you?

Baby born deaf will get 'bionic ears' that could help him hear and talk

According to your thinking, I have many advantages over many hearing people. The advantages are both physical and cognitive. But thinking that way, focusing on what one have, that another don't have, gives a lot of disadvantages that I don't want to carry around with me, and I feel sorry for...

The sign for DEAF will be changed.

Sounds like a sign that focus on the visual senses? No matter what, I'm welcoming new signs for a concept! Do that sign also include deafblinds, or would they need a different sign?

    Deaf/deaf/hoh

Every party I've been to, hoh/d/D allways goes along well. The difference here, is that we have hearing people to stir up debates on deaf issues. Koknut would never get so much attention, if he didn't had access to all those audists he can throw around anytime. Not saying we need someone...

    Deaf for AG Bell

The only members of AG Bell I've seen on AD are parents who raise CI borgs. Wouldn't that make it more likely that most of the complains from the AG Bell members come from hearing members with various agendas, from thinking ASL is a bit kewl, to acknowledging that AG Bell did a stupid move in...

    Deaf for AG Bell

If no one are members of AG Balls, just supportive, is it because they fear a rejection from the deaf community if they become members? I don't know the US deaf community that well, so sorry if this question just is stupid. Also, are people here members of NAD, or is that uncommon, too?

    Deaf for AG Bell

Helen Keller were probably one. Old, black white photography of her, with Anna and Alex. Alex is the fat guy with beard and a hat that looks like an egg. They are sitting on chairs on a field of grass. Someone have written 1901 on the photography. Don't know of anyone that fit your description...

So I gave up wearing Nike Air Max sneakers

Never tried, but guess they are good if you want to use ASL with your feet.

So I gave up wearing Nike Air Max sneakers

Didn't knew that, interesting. My favorite flip flips are "stiff" with thick bands, while those I don't use often have thin bands and softer plates(bends more). Kustom and reef are good this way, but still my feets want to stay barefeet after a while in flip flops. So this makes sense. This...

    Apple and the Religous Beliefs

So I gave up wearing Nike Air Max sneakers

I like Vivobarefoot shoes. Only milimeters between feet and ground, and they look cool. The downside is they quickly get wet if ground is wet. Prefer flip flops whenever possible, like havaianas, reef and kustom. Now you know why my nick is flip. ;)

What are some of the disadvantages of being deaf?

Isn't this simply a battle between two different groups of people(hoh and Deaf) over the term "deaf"? The hoh perspective is a waste of time to me, and not all hoh people would benfit from my perspective.

What are some of the disadvantages of being deaf?

Interesting. The downside with my deafness is that I fart LOUDLY in public. Some people will perhaps find it disturbing during important meetings, dunno.

    An accidental homosexuality experiment?

Why the heck can't someone tell people they are wrong if they are wrong? That's the most absurd claim I've seen for a long time, and I even don't care what most people think, like you probably do. This will be my last word on this, unless something that makes sense show up.

    An accidental homosexuality experiment?

We are talking past each other here. I don't have an opinion on wether homophobia have natural explainations(naturalism) or is part of a divine created world. You brought up homophobia, I didn't not. I've not been talking about homophobia at all. Will probably explain this further later for...
