I am new and need your advices

Hi, welcome! I was having the same issues as you (I ended up getting hearing aids). I had a little notebook that I carried around with me that I would get people to write in if I couldn't hear them. I found a lot of people weren't patient with me but I found a couple good people who help me out...

You're both right. I'll have to talk to my manager about it. :)

Hahahaha! That sounds scary. I dressed up as Pikachu last year to go to work. My Gran made me an awesome costume. I'll try to find some photos.

    Manga/anime

I went to one almost ten years ago dressed as Chi from Chobits. I was thinking I would love to cosplay again. It was so fun! I went to Comic Con here in Ottawa and I took a lot of photos of other costumes. I think dressing up is a whole other art. Some of the costumes were amazing.

I only like Sailor Moon. I grew up with it and it stuck with me.

That sounds good. I still have all the emails and such. I think if it stops then I won't do anything, but if it keeps going like this then I will say something.

    Hey, everyone! New hearing guy!

Welcome! Good luck with your studies! If there isn't a large deaf community around where you live, would you move to another city to be an interpreter?

I have normal hearing, but I met this girl...

That's so cute that you want to learn more! My stepdad met a deaf girl a long time ago and he had a huge crush on her so he learned sign language. You should just ask her questions! I'm sure she would be happy to answer them for you :)

Also, I really like my job. Maybe I can get moved to a different cubicle away from certain people. It's really only that one supervisor and the women that sit in front of me.

    "You're so lucky you're deaf"

People say that to me sometimes too... I find it insensitive. To me it's like going up to a black person and using the N-word..if you catch my drift. It's different if the person is poking fun at themselves, but it comes off a lot different and often times way more harsh than when it is said or...

    Debating going silent.

Hi everyone! I need some advice.. I thought maybe this would fit under "Adjusting to late onset deafness" but I wasn't sure.. So anyways! I have always been HOH. Recently I lost my hearing completely. I can lip read really well (although I get crazy headaches by the end of the day now) and...

    How to catch disability discrimination

Honestly I thought it was discrimination as soon as she said someone from Data Entry would be in touch... Just because someone is HOH doesn't mean they are incapable of doing what everyone else does. Sometimes they just need a little extra (like the interpreter which was requested) or adjusted...
