Android now has flash for notifications

This is much brighter though. I tried it, and can see it easily in my perephrial vision, as it lights up anything it's near. It's not constant (it won't keep flashing if you decide to ignore it), and you can use the LED too. Flash gets your attention, LED color indicates notification type.

Android now has flash for notifications

My Note 2 was update and I found the OS now has built in options to use the camera flash for notifications. If you don't have one, but are considering getting one, I would be happy to try the feature with whatever app you use. I just thought it was worth mentioning!

Best Deaf Cell Phones? Samsung Galaxy Note II is one!

The Note 2 has an optional cable that allow you to connect the phone to a TV. This cable would let me play my Netflix movies on my friend's TV. The trouble is that Netflix wont output subtitles from the phone to the TV. When the phone is connected to the TV, it mirrors everything from the...

Best Deaf Cell Phones? Samsung Galaxy Note II is one!

Something about the Note 2 I should mention. If you use it to watch Netflix with subtitles, I just discovered that the HDMI connection will carry the show to the TV, but not the subtitles. So much for bringing my Netflix to my friend's house. :(

Really? CC Issues We Have to Deal With?

I asked Netflix about it, never got a reply.

Really? CC Issues We Have to Deal With?

ALL the subtitles on ALL the services that support it on my Roku Box are the yellow without background. It's difficult to read on most shows, impossible on others. I checked it out on my Android's Netflix app, it's easier to read there, but probably because it's so close. "My guess is that...

Really? CC Issues We Have to Deal With?

The odd part of that is that it's so inconsistent. There was an episode of South Park recently where the subtitles were useless. A line of dialog would be on screen long enough to only read 2 words, and then gone. Some shows have very inaccurate subtitles where the entire meaning of the dialog...

Really? CC Issues We Have to Deal With?

I agree whole heatedly! If I can hear all the movies on Netflix, you should have accurate subtitles on them all. Now that I'm paying attention to it, seems to be common on Netflix to have bad subtitles. 3 shows in a row have wrecked subtitles.

Really? CC Issues We Have to Deal With?

It seems to be per show... some are accurate, some aren't. I'm not sure how CC is done. If the CC is embedded in the video, done by whomever the company who made the video hired, and then simply decoded by Netflix, it wouldn't be Netflix's fault. Out of curiosity, I'm going to see if I can...

Really? CC Issues We Have to Deal With?

I'm hearing. I just don't bother turning the CC off when people who need it aren't here.

Really? CC Issues We Have to Deal With?

I noticed Netflix's CC isn't always accurate. What I'm watching right now, audio said "It's not a slide", caption said "Is that a plane?". That ruins the joke. Another spot, they screwed up "want" and "don't want". That's not cool. Not sure if that's a Netflix issue, or the video itself. They...

Best Deaf Cell Phones? Samsung Galaxy Note II is one!

There are apps that will convert speech to text, however they are not sensitive enough to pick up a TV or a movie theater, nor are they fast enough to keep up. Not to mention coping with other noises in the show or movie as well as ambient sound in the room. The technology just isn't there yet...

    tinnitus?

Yes, but mostly stressed over a few sudden symptoms I'm dealing with that came with the worsening of the tinnitus. (particularly dizziness and balance trouble that come and go, nausea from being dizzy) There is nothing like falling in to tables in public to cause stress! Waiting for the doctor...

    tinnitus?

Its been suddenly much worse for me these past couple weeks. It's much louder and the tone changed. It's actually starting to drown out other sounds. I try to keep my mind off it, but that is not easy at all.
