    Ear Lobe Pain?

Does it feel like some sort of numbing pain/ electric shock type of thing? If so, I would go see your ENT doc. You may have some nerve damage. Probably not related to having the CI.

Name this breed! My new Puppy!

Eyeing of a toy - no, except for a sheet of towel which my fiance finds hilarious to see her destroy. No pouncing, no digging, no barking. She so far has only barked a few times. I don't think she has a high prey drive. She's a bit of a shyster. I went for a vet check, and the people...

    my CI progress

Awesome! :-) IF you are considering Cochlear - have you considered contacting Cochlear to see if they have some sort of foundation to give CI packages to those who are uninsured and highly motivated? I haven't really checked, but doesn't hurt to try. Maybe AB has one as well...

    Tinnitus

You too? Oh yeah, I always get that, and it annoys me because it sounded SO loud! But of course CI stops it right away, and after walking around for a while, helps quiet it down. That's one thing that I noticed that I had after CI surgeries that I didn't have with my HA. I'm just glad that...

Got hearing aid to test it out

Do you really think that it's possible for someone to try out so many different HA's, and have to put up with this stuff for a long time while they know CI will work much better? I do not know of an audiologist that will allow me to "test" all the different kinds...especially now there's digital...

    Poor aided results above 500Hz

Did you mean you want DeafDude to just put everything in one quote, instead of separating them into sections of quotes? If so, basically he is responding to the entire post of Overthepond's a few posts back.

    Poor aided results above 500Hz

I'm not sure if you're specifically talking to me, but I told you that I have to find it first. Plus - I'm not sure if I even want to share it because you will constantly compare my results to yours. Every person's loss is different! Never compare yours to anyone else. Perfect example: My...

    my CI progress

Hope the ball rolls down fast soon! Do you have medicare? Try getting Aetna Medicare. They paid for my CI 100%. I'm not sure if they have tightened up the rules due to economy. I think they have low premiums. Good luck!! We all are here for you!

Multicore Hearing Aid for $100 on the Way!

First - there are a lot of idiotic people in this world. If someone who has a hearing loss rather get the aid then going to a ENT doc or audiologist to see what the CAUSE is before getting the aid? Plus, they most likely will cause MORE damage to their ears than necessary. You can't just program...

CI's - those with long hair or wearing glasses

I had waist-length hair, way longer than yours, when I had two of my CI's. I made sure that i had my hair up in a loose ponytail, not so tight (otherwise it will hurt), and I had it messy ponytail...I have no idea what the style is, but check my blog and see post op pictures. I had the pony tail...

    Poor aided results above 500Hz

I'll have to find my audiogram aided. I believe it starts at the 40db at 250hz, then slopes downwards a little, and ends up at the 60db in the highs. I have to double check. Distortion - basically I was missing the higher frequencies that are in speech and environmental sounds, so everything...

My middle-schooler is now a candidate for CI -HELP!

:gpost: I so totally agree with this. Those who never simulated their "dead" ear or whatever, will also have issues as well. Hearing through one ear is different than hearing from the other.

My middle-schooler is now a candidate for CI -HELP!

It does take time. How many times have you gone for Mapping? So far, I've had about 8 or so mapping sessions within a year. It gets better over time.

Got hearing aid to test it out

SkullChick has repeatedly said that her HA sounds distorted, so going bimodal approach will not help her. Another CI will. She is just having a hard time getting another one due to her surgeon's requirement to "speak well", which is pure BS.

Name this breed! My new Puppy!

She has medium length hair. On her curly tail, she has long hair. Hmm - I'll try my best with explaining her behavior. She picks up commands very quickly. She knows: Come, Go Potty, Leave it, Stay, Wait (for when I want to wait until I take the leash off, she automatically waits every...

My middle-schooler is now a candidate for CI -HELP!

it's very interesting that you said that. I had to switch to a different Medicare company because the original Medicare insurance will only pay 80%. It's not that they won't allow me have it, they don't care, I have to pay the other 20%. I switched to a different company, but had to wait until...

    curious regarding implant and hearing

Yes it was....yes it was. On another hand, it was interesting to hear someone in the next stall to unwrap the sanitary napkins, ripping off the old one. I had to really stifle my laughter...then I think about all those times that I had to do the same. Damn, the world is loud. Now, it's not so...

    Poor aided results above 500Hz

Also - not all of us have a nice gain in HA's like yours, DeafDude1. I've wore HA's my whole life, and I was able to understand speech pretty well, but I cannot look away and be able to pick it up easily as I could with CI. I got the CI because my hearing was progressively getting worse, and...

Got hearing aid to test it out

That's exactly what I've been trying to explain to DeafDude1 - HA does not give most of us the clarity that we need that CI has. I still think it's stupid that your doctor will not give you another CI just because you can't speak well. WTF? A friend of mine speaks okay, she spoke better when...
