Speaking For Me...how Can I Make Her Stop?

I wish I could find a way to get through to her like you have. I just need to find the right things to say. I agree completely with everything you said though. I definitely do not want her being my voice and there has been times I've dreaded her coming with me for that specific reason.

Speaking For Me...how Can I Make Her Stop?

<< I had no idea where to put this, so feel free to move it, Admins. >> Okay so, does anyone else's spouse speak for them? I am perfectly capable of speaking for myself but if I happen to miss something that someone has said, instead of my girlfriend waiting for me to ask what they said, she...

What are you thinking about? Part VIII

Ouch! Sorry to hear that, AlleyCat. That sounds painful  If it makes you feel any better, I did the same thing just from reaching to close the curtains. It's easily done, I'm afraid :aw:

    Question For The Deaf Community

I would have loved to but I was a quiet little 17 year old at the time :dunno: I didn't like confrontation.

    Question For The Deaf Community

I'm definitely treated different. As a deafie, whenever I visit the doctor's office, I feel that people often push me aside. Many times I've just had paperwork shoved into my hands and they don't even bother explaining what it's for then I've been left to my own devices until it's my turn to...

    Hello Deaf/hoh Looking For Friends

Yep. Believe me, it's not as 'exciting' as it sounds. It's pretty boring. I'm desperate to grab my degree and get out.

Had To Give Up My Seat For A Deaf Person...

Either way she shouldn't have been so rude about it. Manners cost nothing :dunno2:

Had To Give Up My Seat For A Deaf Person...

By chance is there allocated seating on your train? A lot of trains have seats that are numbered and can be pre-booked, so maybe you literally were sitting in her allocated seat? As for her rudeness, there's no excuse. She could've been polite about it but chose to be a douche. I'm deaf and I...

Switched At Birth - Cancelled (cue The Hearie Outcry)

Agreed. But at least now we'll hopefully see those actors going on to do better things. Can always use more deaf actors in Hollywood

Switched At Birth - Cancelled (cue The Hearie Outcry)

My niece called me today in tears because her favourite show was cancelled; Switched at Birth. I was delighted as I hate that show with every fiber of my being, but the thing that really struck me was she said to me 'But Maisie, you guys won't be represented anymore. People were just starting...

    British Sign Language

I don't really use anything like that, I have bad anxiety issues. I am deaf. But you will find loads of hearing people here too. No problem at all, glad I can help! We're all pretty friendly round here at All Deaf, so feel free to ask away! :)
