    A Parent's joy versus animal's torment.

Right, make a little notch for it to sit in, some surgeons do and some don't. I don't think mine is I can feel mine, it's not flush, at all, but I don't think think they drill through the skull at all. It's a 2 hour outpatient surgery, going right home after. They don't even give you the good...

    A Parent's joy versus animal's torment.

I, myself have asked some of those same questions and would love definitive answers!!! But!! If you stick around and visit all the areas of the forum, through observation and learning more about members you may come to some conclusions on your own. I don't come around much anymore, from what...

Do they even "drill into your head"? I don't think so. I could be wrong but don't they just wrap the electrodes under the skull?

Since when do cars communicate orally? And since when does a cat actually listen? Cats do what the **** they want hahaha dogs listen, cats not so much:laugh2:

    A Parent's joy versus animal's torment.

I used to 100% hearing perfectly. My CI has been activated for ohhhhhh, 5 days. I'm not the least bit disappointed. It's freaking awesome. I think a CI would be most disappointing to someone who was born deaf and was implanted as a teen or an adult. You know, one of those people that you...

    A Parent's joy versus animal's torment.

I'm just swinging by to give props to Nic, for asking excellent questions, displaying a level of thought and intelligence that is not often seen on this forum. Kudos Also I find it a bit interesting that being a human and deaf is fine and dandy, flowers and sunshine but deafening a cat is...

    Cochlear Implantation Surgery 7/28/15

I know, I still might. I opened one just to try it, but I didn't use it today. My ear is still pretty tender and right after putting it on this morning I could tell it was heavier than the one with disposables and I just knew it'd be killing me by the end of the day. So I still might, but maybe...

    Cochlear Implantation Surgery 7/28/15

Great!!!! I had an awesome day at work. I still have to face people but I had no problems understanding speech. Lots of things are sounding normal. Like when I typed out my SOAP notes on the computer, my tapping the keys sounds 100% normal. When I got in my car and shifted from park to drive I...

    CI Surgery approved today

I just had to tell her when I could hear them, and then we talked about if needed it louder or quieter. I can hear speech, it's sounds strange and I do have to be looking at the speaker. I posted some about it in my thread. I do have a video, if I can figure out how to get it in here...

    Cochlear Implantation Surgery 7/28/15

I didn't get any of my stuff until I went in to be activated, we just put disposable batteries in the uhhhh disposable battery I don't know, thing. My clinic is a 2 processor clinic so I got 2 processors, one for a back up. I ordered a white one and a teal one. They screwed up my order. They...

    Cochlear Implantation Surgery 7/28/15

Hello guys!!! The activation went very well!!! I was waiting for my face to spaz but it didn't. The doc warned that the otosclerosis changed the bone in ways that conducts the electricity better (or something like that) so there's an increased risk of facial stimulation with implants in people...

    Cochlear Implantation Surgery 7/28/15

Meh, it's not tooooo bad, but I have like no appetite. Swelling all around that side of my head, neck and face. Not huge swelling, just some, so it feels a little tight and uncomfortable. It's not so bad though really, mostly just uncomfortable. Know what I mean?

    Cochlear Implantation Surgery 7/28/15

Yeah no stitches or staples, surgical glue, so I can get it wet. Just had to wait 24 hours. I suspect there might be stitches on the inside. Oh!! And my wildest dreams all involve Jensen Ackles now ;)

I'm expecting things to sound strange and for me to have to do auditory rehab to get used to my new way of hearing. I'm expecting work not magic ;) but I'm going to thank you anyway :ty:

Thanks Angel. I'm sore in places I didn't expect haha my throat, from the breathing tube and my sides and abs. Weird. Do you have Cochlear or AB? I forget. I was wondering if they did different incisions for different brands. Six weeks huh, oh I'd be so impatient! I'd be trying to convince him...

Oh one more pic, on the drive home. I could not wait to get that thing off my head by the next day, well earlier today. It was just squeezing the hell out of me, so damn uncomfortable. At the point of taking this pic it wasn't bothering me too much haha
