If you're talking about like if you read the big book, and what you said to me was something you understood from the book as a result of reading the entire thing, then that makes sense. In other words, to your knowledge, the fact in question isn't explicitly stated anywhere in the book, but it...

I agree with everything in bold above. :gpost:

There are many on this forum that do a lot of posting, and their posts contribute in a positive way. I would imagine the result of limiting posts per day, especially to something as substantial as ten, would at first cause the same conversations to take longer, then eventually cause the top...

Oh, excuse me, I'm sorry, I'm not talking about "prove it or else" cases. I wouldn't normally ask people to prove what they're saying actually, but if I ask for a citation (I probably wouldn't use that word) and somebody gives me a rude-seeming refusal, that would cause me to doubt that...

In that case, you could simply say that it was so many years ago that you don't remember, rather than "Find it yourself." I wouldn't expect you to remember after so long, and even if it was just yesterday, it's perfectly okay if you just forgot. Saying, "I've given you all the information you...

Suppose I read your 500 page book, but fail to find in it the information you said was there. Would you then tell me the page number? Does it really have to come to that?

I hate to be called a liar. I go to great lengths to try to make what people understand of what I say to be true. As such a person, it's been said to me many times, and I think it applies here, "If you're so confident that what you're saying is true, then there's no harm in proving it." It...

    Adjustment to late onset deafness

Men are not at all safe from those treatments. Some men are without those fears, but men who have those fears are justified in it because I have been harassed, and many men are raped, not only by women, but also by other men who can overpower them either physically or psychologically. I don't...

    New Signers' Funny Mistakes

My dad told me tonight at supper while he was trying to learn to sign, "I'm long, but I'm getting better, asshole!" My mom corrected him, "I'm slow, but I'm getting better." I've never seen my mom laugh so hard! :giggle:

    Adjustment to late onset deafness

The person in the doctor's office who take my vitals before the doctor comes in asked me if I wear those things to block the sound. Until that day, I used to think those people went to medical school. Makes me wonder if they went to school at all. Why would I spend thousands of dollars on...

    New Signers' Funny Mistakes

Yikes! After reading this thread, maybe I ought to take an ASL class just to make sure I'm not swearing all over the place! I was raised more or less on SEE, but I was taught by adult hearies who learned from a SEE dictionary, which was at the time a completely new concept if I understand my...

    New Signers' Funny Mistakes

My mom and I were having supper tonight, and she was telling me about her sick dog, and how she thinks she's getting better. She said something that I got stuck on for several minutes, and she kept repeating, telling me that her dog had been drinking squares of water. I could not figure out...

    What are you thinking about?

Walla Walla Community College. If they don't let me finish there, I'll go to another, then another, then another until somebody lets me finish.

    What are you thinking about?

I'm thinking pretence is stupid, and I should vow to never do it again. But I might forget and accidentally break my vow, so I better not. Also, I'm starting nursing school tomorrow, and I think I'm the only deaf in the whole program. In fact, I think I'm the only deaf I've ever met...

Do You Still Drink Chocolate Milk?

I have a cup every morning instead of most people coffee. As warm as a hug, chocolate milk is! Sometimes I put a little mint in it to make it special. :giggle:

The Lounge thread: Whatever you feel like......... Anything goes! Part XV

I don't have a mental illness that I'm aware of. :hmm: I'll have to think about alternate ways to phrase my question over supper. :hmm:

The Lounge thread: Whatever you feel like......... Anything goes! Part XV

I'm not suicidal or masochist. It's safe to answer the question. The worst that could happen is I'll leave peacefully. I do have pain a lot in my life, but rarely is it the worst I've ever felt, so I don't usually talk about it.

Maybe if I rephrase... If something hurts, are we not allowed to say that it hurts?

We're not supposed to say if we have pain?
