    Humidity Problems?

My naidas fail in the humidity too. Stupid hearing aids. I qualify for ADP again in January. I am definitely going to start looking for new aids then.

    Phonak Maxx vs. Phonak Naida

I work with kids who have disabilities and who are Deaf. PECS are great, especially if there is no other expressive language. Without a communication outlet you will get one very angry little boy! Use what works but continue to work on the expressive language. Sometimes other things aren't...

    Phonak Maxx vs. Phonak Naida

The Safari's are a bit chunkier than they look. At least as wide as the Naidas. Where abouts are you located? The exact date to be due for new aids makes me wonder if you are in Ontario?

    Phonak Maxx vs. Phonak Naida

Even with a mild hearing loss you can see significant language delays. Don't scare people.

    Research Study

I work as a 1-1 support worker and here are two sample conversations from today...I recorded them right after they happened! Me - "Where do you want to go?", Client - "To kill Tanya Stone.", Me *confused face*. Client - "To kill Tanya Stone.". Me, *looks around sees what is close* "You want...

    Research Study

I am not an oral "failure". I am definitely an oral success. Still love my ASL though. This week at work being oral is slowly killing me as I have bizarre miscommunications with my client with accents. Oral skills only go so far.

Experiences the 1st week after CI operation?! Help!!

I won't argue with you about advil. I know I have done what you say is toxic and been fine. I am now on mobicox daily, so no advil for me. To add to he oxycocet thing...it is more or less the same at tylenol 3. T3's don't work for everyone though because it relies on the codeine being...

Experiences the 1st week after CI operation?! Help!!

I HATE Dr. Chen. He told my I would have no quality of life if I didn't get a CI. Even when he knew that I am Deaf. I don't have a CI but I did look into it and decided not to go for it. Just not for me. I am a Torontonian too!

Here in Toronto we have a few DI's who do ASL/LSQ interpreting, apperently there is a high demand for them. We have a few DI's too...I am planning an event in a few weeks and we will have two DI's there.

    Work

Did you tell your employer previous to employment about your hearing loss? Yup, not on my resume or coverletter but I do disclose when I go for the interview. When did your employer acknowledge it (if ever)? At the interview they normally look confused and wonder how I can do certain...

    Bilateral!!!!

Ear gear is fabulous - if you have skinny aids. I can't imagine it on a CI. Having said that, I am a big advocate for it. It has saved my aids from horses many times. I can't wear it daily though, since it makes my aids so much thicker.

    who has a fluctating loss?

Nope. I have 3 separate causes for my hearing loss and more genetic oddities than most. They don't question why my body does anything it does ;-) I don't really see ENT's that much. Haven't in a few years at least. I just see my audiologist who is fabulous and thinks my hearing loss is...

Even during your probation period you can't be fired for your hearing loss either.
