Hello I am a lesbian, partially deaf

One of the few threads you'd think they be able to safely post something without any anti-gay comments. I know moderators have a difficult time finding a balance, but if I were one, I would not allow such negative comments in any GLBT Lounge thread.

    WRONG! vs. MISHAP!

I shall try one more time. The difference in when you use either sign is the highlighted part below: What I found on Lifeprint.com is: The sign for wrong (WRONG / inaccurate / "an error" / "a mistake") has a variation that can mean "make a mistake," "make an error," or "have an accident."...

    WRONG! vs. MISHAP!

    I guess I don't understand your confusion.

    WRONG! vs. MISHAP!

What I found on Lifeprint.com is: The sign for wrong (WRONG / inaccurate / "an error" / "a mistake") has a variation that can mean "make a mistake," "make an error," or "have an accident." The movement twists a "Y-hand" across the chin. Does that help?

    Different type of joint custody....

I heard about it years ago as an arrangement that worked well for at least one divorced couple. Their argument was it disrupted the children's life the least as they stayed in one home and didn't have to go back and forth. I guess if a parent would or was able to put their children's interests...

    Sign-to-English translation.

I can't speak for the OP, but all that was asked was what did that sign mean, as in...if you used that sign what would it mean. Perhaps forget about the song lyrics and think about the sign's use in day to day conversation. As far as I can find that sign as described doesn't mean shame...

    Sign-to-English translation.

Not in any ASL dictionary I have access. Could you give me your source for this statement? Thanks.

Amanda Knox and her boyfriend get jail sentence!!

If I remember my European history correctly, the court system in Europe is based on presumed guilty and having to prove your innocence. I have no idea of Amanda Knox's guilt or innocence, but a trial in the US or Britain would've been conducted very differently under the concept of innocent...

    Order of Sentences

"ASL is a distinct language, and (like most other languages) it does not map perfectly to English. There is no equivalent for many specific words and the syntax is completely different. Culturally Deaf people, signing with each other, usually use ASL, but many people, (frequently deaf or hard of...

Did the teacher tell you both of these or is it someone other than the teacher that's telling you the second part?

How to fix jammed garbage disposal

It can work and often does, but you shouldn't just turn off the disposal, you should unplug it if it's plugged into a wall socket or cut power to it by flipping the circuit breaker.

    When relatives come visiting....

If they are full blood related sisters, then they're either both Irish or not at all. :P

    Sign-to-English translation.

Not saying you're wrong for your area, but the sign OP described is not ashamed in any of the 6 dictionaries I checked.

I really love you; true ASL?

It may be easier to understand your way, but, for me, it's a lot easier to form the sign by doing the 'R' first and then the 'Y'.

I really love you; true ASL?

Wish I could remember where I saw it, but somewhere that sign was shown as a spaceship as in a Star Wars/Star Trek fighter type.

    Perceptions of Netflix captions?

Periodically the captions stop working or lag behind the scenes and I have to go back to the Netflix menu screen. Sometimes when doing that it locks up and kicks me completely out and my Roku reboots. It's a pain. It doesn't happen on all movies and I can't figure out any consistent thing...

Hello I am a lesbian, partially deaf

Well, if you jump into a GLBT thread yes you should introduce yourself as straight as it likely colors your perception or opinion. My opinion is you should have kept your first thought (comment) to yourself. It was inappropriate to write what you did when the OP was posting in a GLBT...

For those of you who ride bicycles......

I ride between a 100 and 400 miles a week depending on the weather and work schedule. Some is commuting and a lot is recreational. Best conditions are early morning before traffic gets heavy on a calm and cool morning.
