What are you doing right now? Part II

Keeping my life simple is easier said than done, given what I've been through. However, with my being in a new home, that should be much easier to do now, but I'm still getting used to having stuff I didn't have for a while. Give it a few weeks, and I'll be okay.

What are you doing right now? Part II

I just talked with the landlady here, and we talked about improving this place, and I told her I knew someone who would be willing to do the work for a fee, which I would pay for, and she agreed to it. I also talked with her about the doorbell I'm planning on purchasing next month, and she had...

Yeah...... me. That's how I got through those 5 months at my old place. It wasn't worth it being negative, so I chose to do something that made me happy, and kept me going. That's how I'm still happy now. I just do not have the ability to stay negative for very long. I chose happiness over...

Nope. Not even a mile. Rogers Park isn't that big. It's actually the smallest community here in Chicago.

My neighborhood photos so far, with more to come a little later on: And my last photo from Uptown: The above were taken along Clark/Devon, and I'll add more in a few more days. Trying to get to know this particular section of Rogers Park better.

CFD is the Chicago Fire Department, but there are other cities who use that, too. However, I don't know of any that uses black and red fire trucks, and also has a black and red fireboat, too. Those trucks are very distinct to Chicago, and I don't know if they're anywhere else.

All right. However, on my way there, though, I saw quite a few interesting places I'd like to get pictures of, but it's too cold now. Maybe when it reaches 35 or better I can do that (wishing I did that yesterday as it WAS 35 yesterday) And there's this new place that has something related with...

I know that. I unintentionally started a discussion about abbreviation, and I'm kinda wishing I'd thought that through a little better. Oh well. Next time.

Usually I don't. However, I AM surprised that the abbreviation for Union Station isn't as well known as I thought it was. I will make a note of that, and be more careful from now on. Like Botts says, I sometimes use it in reference to trains, and not much else.

As far as I know, only me. I haven't met any others who used Metra, with the exception of Angel1989's trip on the Northwest line last October. Other than that, nothing.... yet.

People use it all the time in Chicago. It's common to use it here. It's also in the Amtrak ticket websites, and on the Metra schedules. It's fairly common.

Yes, Chicago Union Station. That's the abbreviation for it.

Wow. What did I miss? I just got to CUS, and placed my order for 2 free bagels. It's unusual to see a bagel shop in the Great Hall.

Hmm. I never thought of that. There IS a fire station not far from here, so I just may try that. Only problem is, do they have alarms for the deaf, too? I know they have them for hearies, but for the deaf? Not sure. I need one with a visual cue, and I don't think they have those.

LoveBlue, I sometimes use Cash Control, but not sure if that's what you're looking for, though. Just my two cents, if you've not yet found an app.

What are you doing right now? Part II

I am doing some research on doorbells and alarms for my new place. So far I've found a decent price for a new doorbell, which I will place an order for next month. The fire alarm is a little trickier, but I think I can find it. The reason why I have to do it is because my new place doesn't meet...

How are you feeling today? Part II

We did find it, yes. As for the taking so I can't use it, let's not speculate on that. It's not worth it, and doesn't do me any good. What does matter is that it's back in my possession, so let's leave it that way.

How are you feeling today? Part II

Formerly. I had left my electric skillet in a very specific place so I could grab it and be out. When I went to pick it up earlier today, the plug was missing, and I was none too pleased about it, either. I told him that skillet was there for a reason, and he wasn't supposed to move it. I made...
