    Questions on ENT diagnosis

Mine was pretty easy to diagnose, and confirmed with MRI and Ctscans. My diagnosis won't give you any insights, anything that's easy to diagnose won't be probably. I think sometimes they just don't know because there's no clear cause.

Scott, Nirvana isn't "new". Yeah shel it's way too early for music to sound anything but bloody awful to you. I'm surprised at how well I can hear my old favorites, I really didn't expect it. Just all of a sudden it sounded better. Last Saturday actually. There's music playing constantly at my...

another picture, cuz I love visuals. I love my aquapack!!! love being able to able to go in the water and hear, which btw was a bit terrifying at first. I was so afraid of screwing it up. Its nice having it off the ear too. My son took this pic too, I was walking around saying "I've got my ear...

Not sure where to post this so I will post it here

Oh yeah!! I almost forgot! If your work is noisy it may be overwhelming for awhile. This was something I didn't have to deal with. I'm a massage therapist, I spend all day in a very quiet room with just me and one other person in the room and not much talking. If you do get one hopefully this is...

The magnet is not strong. At All. If you hearing before, and you had good, effective use of your aids before there won't really be a whole lot of "relearning" to hear. At least that's what I've found to be the case. I've been activated for 4 weeks and for me it's been more a matter of getting...

I was telling a coworker that when my daughter plays music in my car it just sounds like noise. She says "it is just noise" haha I think I'll like Bruno Mars and Adele. I stopped being able to hear new music not long before they started.

I haven't posted any progress reports lately :) so it's been a little over 4 weeks post activation and things are going just freaking awesome. On Monday made phone calls for the first time with my CI. I used my Hamilton relay service because I didn't think it'd go that well. Turns out I...

    Struggling with my hearing aids

Definitely need to see a different Audi. If you were severe but now have dipped into profound loss your hearing aids may be functioning properly but yet can't help handle your loss anyone. As someone that had progressive hearing loss I can tell you the difference between severe loss and profound...

Is life harder for the deaf?

I have no idea why you'd think I'd think it was okay. I said nothing of the sort. An occurrence with a doctor isn't "your life", guess what ****ty things happen to people ALL the time. What makes life hard is a person's own attitude. I'm sorry you can't see that. Oh and the OP is a hearing girl...

Is life harder for the deaf?

Actually a doctor asking you that doesn't make your life harder. Obviously the perception of hearing people comes into play, but it really boils down to how you handle it. Do you sit there dwelling on it? Being a victim? Blaming your deafness for all your problems? are you sitting on your...

I do wish it could work for everybody but I'm glad she was honest with you. I'd rather know exactly what I was dealing with so I could process and handle it realistically. Giving you false hope would have been cruel and harder to deal with emotionally in the long run, I think anyway.

Yes in my 20s. Exactly 20 for my left ear and 25/26 in my right. For the last of 3-4 years I had very limited access to speech, the six months to a year, no access to any sound even with my aids in. I chose my right ear to implant because it's had more access to speech for longer. I knew this...
