Based on my experience - I went to mainstream during my elementary school and then went to CSDR during my junior year and skipped a grade because my education is way ahead of them and learned nothing there. Saw All is Lost - it's kinda boring. I'm not sure if the writer (also director) or he wrote the character as ignorant sailor... There are many missing key stuff for survival in case of emergency - such as airhorn, boat beacon, personal beacon, etc... - even the character misused the flare...

Seriously? I don't realized how big deal to deaf people that used a sign in any movie. To me, it's no big deal. I know quite several hearing people that used TIM (thumb, index, middle) and they're Europeans and they don't know ASL. Some people would use middle, ring, & pinky fingers as 3 sign.
