    MRI in 2 weeks

Med-El implants are approved for 1.5T MRI scans, with the magnet in place. Their next generation implant will be approved for 3.0T MRI scan with the magnet in place. Yes it will be, as the results will shed more light on another health issue I am facing.

Having my first MRI in a couple of weeks with my CI.:wave:

Why do we have to turn off our CI during take-off and landing?

I've never said anything about having an MRI with the magnet in place, with the exception of Med-El. I have never said to have an MRI outside of the recommendations of the manufacture. Simply put, I'm merely stating: follow the manufactures MRI procedures, and you can have an MRI scan...

Why do we have to turn off our CI during take-off and landing?

So I am the rude one? When I merely pointed out that you aren't educated on the topic because your comment provided nothing to backup your "opinion", you provided ZERO facts or any specifics on manufacture's recommendations pertaining to MRI's nor any regulatory agency. Even to support your...

Why do we have to turn off our CI during take-off and landing?

Don't have to worry about flying, or airport security. As for MRIs Bottesini clearly isn't educated on the topic. Implants may or may not be approved for some type of MRI, depends on manufacturer and governing health agency. In the US, Med-El is the only one which is approved for a full 1.5T...

How to find audiologists knowledgeable about Single Sided Deafness (SSD)?

I found an ENT in St. Paul that I really liked, he treated me best he could when I stated to lose my hearing. It started as SDD, then progressed to bilateral loss. I then went to Mayo for a second opinion. I will say that I have not been impressed with Mayo's ENT department at all, exception of...

    Which Cochlear Implant is best?

I'm a Med-El user, you can't deny that their form factor is better than the rest. Smaller implant, smaller BTE processor and of course the all-in-one Rondo (which I have, but really don't like). Plus the Med-El implant is qualified for 1.5T MRI's, which in recent medical events for myself...

Welp...looks like I may need an MRI

Have not gone for a second opinion, pretty sure I'll just hit the same stall point with the MRI so I'm waiting until I have an actual diagnosis before I ask for another opinion. Yes, going to Mayo.

Welp...looks like I may need an MRI

There is more to this story.... The results of my CT scan came back, and a number of things are concerning. Right now it looks like I *may* have an untreatable liver disease which would probably require me to have a liver transplant by the time I'm 50. Or die by that time if I can't get a...

Welp...looks like I may need an MRI

CT scan liver biopsy and an endoscopy will all be done, however it may be that I will require routine screening of my liver moving forward. Getting bombarded by radiation via CT scans won't be ideal in the long run either.

Welp...looks like I may need an MRI

So, I seem to be having some questionable liver fictions at the moment. Waiting on the results of the CT scan they did first to see if they feel an MRI is warranted. Probably find out in the next week or so. Anyway, props to Med-El and their timing FDA approval for 1.5T MRI without having to...

Odd ? - Do any of y'all know of a CI forum that gives demerits?

Just for clarity, the plane had no direct comparison to a CI. It was a comparison on travel by car versus travel by plane and the likely hood of injury/death in either instance. The fact is, travel by car is a much higher risk than travel by plane. Yet, driving a vehicle is second nature and...

Odd ? - Do any of y'all know of a CI forum that gives demerits?

But it IS low risk surgery. It doesn't involve opening your chest or abdomen exposing vital organs. While you could argue it's near the brain it's still a stretch. While yes complications can occur, you have to keep it in perspective. It's not open-heart surgery, it's not an organ transplant...

    Hooray! Good news!

Congrats! Very exciting! I have Med-El and I have the Rondo. Right now they are giving them away free, which is a irritation for me since I got my CI before the promotion and to get the Rondo I had to exchange my spare Opus 2. So I have 1 Rondo, 1 Opus 2. With the current promotion you...

Just be aware that Librivox recordings are of books in the "Public Domain" Under US law (under which LibriVox operates), public domain includes all works published before 1923. A work published after 1923 is probably not in the public domain and we probably cannot record it. If a work is...

It's hard to be patient. I'm not sure of your situation but I was of "able hearing" and suddenly lost it. So about 16 months past from the time of loss to the CI, they say the short the time frame of losing hearing to getting the CI the better the results are at adapting. Definitely do the...

    Woohoo moment!

So I've been "activated" with my CI for about 5 months now. Things have been progressing, but I do have a hard time with peoples speech. Mainly hearing it as the background noises seem louder than the speech I want to hear. Conversation with the Audi, but I find I do really well with direct...

My CI surgery got moved closer!

I was specifically told not to hold sneezes in! I had my surgery in February. I stayed home from work for a week, I was pretty comfortable, really just took the pain meds to help me sleep. The biggest hassle was keeping water out of my ear for the 4-6 weeks or whatever it was. After 4 weeks...
