    Pat's (bbaseballboy) Surgery log

On the Sennheiser side my HD380 is a closed can as will the older version HD280. The HD380 is made more for professionals use in the industry. It has high clamping pressure so the fit needs to be determine if it will work for the person. When I go to concerts or to the symphony I miss the...

    Pat's (bbaseballboy) Surgery log

The Bluetooth Headphone you mention is more designed to be portable and being a Bluetooth can be used for your cell phone. That way both of my ears will hear the conversation instead of one. The tricky part is finding headphones that will be conformable on the ear with the processor on without...

I have several headphones at home. I have my two Sennheiser headphones my HD555 and HD380. I also have the Denon 2000 headphones which are stronger in the bass for music but I like my Sennheiser for vocals and for movies with heavy dialog. My high end headphones is my Stax SR5 headphone that...

TH Med-El OPUS 2 Processor has a remote as well but the OPUS 2 Processor has no buttons or controls on it and it is more depended on the remote that has no display and it is one way communications instead of two way as with the N5. The N5 remote made it a bit easier for me to adjust the...

For the music lovers - an interesting article

Michael Chorost, short article, My Bionic Quest for Boléro was in my opinion was a bit better written than Rebuilt. I read "My Bionic Quest for Boléro" a few years ago.

Older CI like S-Series or Plautim BTE will be no more 2012.

Once they stop manufacturing the model they will only support it for a period of time afterwords and stop having parts available for it.

    Cochlear and their valuable Recipients!!

I do not know where you coming from. My insurance pays for two processors. While I have a backup I also learned sign language while I was at N.T.I.D. My CI audiologist knows sign language. I try to have several backup plans available for my needs. In two years before my implant operation I had...

    AT&T buys T-Mobile

Actually Verzion and Sprint would be a better match because they use similar technology which is CDMA while AT&T and T-Mobile uses GSM-standard which will allow AT&T to share the T-Mobile cell towers to increase coverage. I have heard that T-moible is already shuting down some T-Mobile kiosks...

N5 Available for Older Users (before 2003?)

It is just a software change and it still needs to be tested and to be approved by FDA since it involves a change in implant function. This is so typicall.

    Cochlear and their valuable Recipients!!

Not all counties may have the same medical equipment rules that USA uses. Saudi Arabia may required that medical equipment and supplies can only be obtained from clinics or doctors. There may be a FDA rule about who can order supplies from the Cochlear web store in USA. My insurance pays for...

Also there is stress using the computer for six hours and trying to use a cell phone. I needed to be as calm and slow down a bit after the surgery otherwise my ears will ring like crazy. It took me about two months for all the ringing to stop.

want to hear your opinions about cochlear implant

Phil, I would not say only a small number of CI can use a cell or landbase phone. I can use both with no issues. I am not sure why you take off your implant when using the relay.

Could use some help with choosing companies

I use full sized cans (headphones) with my hearing aid, my old freedom and the N5. Some of the full size Sennheiser's works well and since the Mic's are on the top I just move the headphones up a bit. I also have a pair of Denon's and the Stax SR5 headphones. If I was listening to music while...
