Aetna covers the BAHA if you're interested in buying a temp policy. I know some people have done that for CI's.

    Aided Hearing Test.

How should you get 68dB with no aids? That's obviously impossible with your loss, can you please clarify? What is your speech discrimination score aided? Mine is 0% unaided, will find out on Friday at my CI Evaluation what it is aided. I can almost never not have to read lips so I imagine...

Ear Mold did a weird thing last night.....

I'm betting that since you never had that problem before, that it was the change in pressure from flying. I'm having this problem right now where my mold gets a suction in my ear canal, so sometimes when I smile or chew, etc, the mold will "pull" the eardrum out, which is VERY painful as I just...

    Aided Hearing Test.

That's definitely not the general concensus. To qualify for a CI you have to have minimal benefit from your HA's. This means very bad speech discrimination scores. Hearing aids giving a profoundly deaf person even 50% speech discrimination is helping them!

I think that's very good! I've never had one.

This. In addition to what cdmeggars said above, you CAN qualify for both a BAHA and a CI simultaneously. I do. Part of my loss is conductive, the rest of it is sensorial. I was offered both and chose to go with a CI. My testing starts Friday.

Only thing I remember giving Ponto a leg up is that the implant(abutment) for the Ponto can hold both the Ponto processor AND the Cochlear processor. Whereas the Cochlear implant(abutment) can only hold the Cochlear processor. This leaves you with no option of switching processors in the future...

    Have you pimped your ears?

She was talking about the ear gear. If you have powerful hearing aids, such as Naidas, turned all the way up, ear gear may interfere with the mics and cause whistling. The charms don't cause noise though. They barely move, only when I bend over forward. They weigh practically nothing.

    Audiograms and Surgery Tomorrow

Was supposed to be just a few days after surgery. But I'm sure I have to get that ear completely cleaned out before putting my aid in. So it may be longer; until I work up enough courage to go at it again lol.

    Audiograms and Surgery Tomorrow

Tried cleaning the entrance to the ear canals and OMG NAAASTYYY!!! I couldn't even see my eardrums with the otoscope, it's so disgusting and scary looking! Got a bit of nastiness out and called it a night!

    Audiograms and Surgery Tomorrow

I'm having surgery tomorrow because my eardrums are not moving at all, they're completely flat on the test, whereas before I had a tall peak. They are very painful, especially my left, and especially when I blow my nose, burp, etc. So he's going in tomorrow to clean them out in hopes of helping...
