    Tinnitus alarm clock

I am currently struggling with sciatica, and must take a nap in the afternoon, and get this, then, too. At ten PM I am too tired and drugged for that to bother me.

Finding the specification of my aids...

I have to stay on top of my housedust allergy in order to prevent conductive loss on top of my neurological loss. In order to do that, I have air filtration machines in my apartment. They are noisy. Therefore, I have a "fan" setting. It does wonders. I also regularly use my telecoil with...

    Sonic Alert Doorbell subsitute

People complain that I often am apparently not home when they ring my doorbell in the early afternoon. That is generally my naptime. I now have a note on my door that says that if I do not respond, knock on my bedroom window. A year and a half ago, when I moved in, the manager and I tested...

    Tinnitus alarm clock

Odd, but does anyone else's brain do this: Nearly every morning, at around 6:30, I wake up to the sound of my specialized telephone ringing. It is not my phone, but tinnitus. Previously, I had a cellphone, and my internal alarm was the sound of that phone.

Hello Day One With Hearing Aids

Toffee, this group of people is very tolerant of spelling and writing problems. Language problems are often part of deafness. I have mild CP, and often have problems with typing, but can correct before I send. Then there are those for whom written language is one of the most important means...

    Hello, New Writer Here

Someone once told me to write about what I know about. And that I knew more about a certain subject than I thought I knew. http://www.writing-world.com/fiction/know.shtml Here is the same advice. Expand from YOUR knowledge base.

    Inferior hearing test equipment?

My father was a tank driver. I thought my loss was hereditary, until my mother told me otherwise. Now I think the progressive loss has something to do with mild CP. I no longer ask why--just accept it.

Hearing aid forum I came from to here :(

Been years since I was there. I remember all that stuff. I ordered the batteries from there (Hawaii), and they were OK. I had ordered some very cheap batteries from elsewhere, but they didn't last long. Nowadays, I only order from Harris. They get here quick, as they go directly to St. Paul...

Looking for new ear molds? are ear molds being phased out?

My Medicare/Medicaid pays for HA's. There is an upper threshold at which they won't pay, both in quality and need. For most of us here, HA's are essential. Without them, I would be enrolling in a crash course in sign, being functionally deaf.

Looking for new ear molds? are ear molds being phased out?

And the frequent repairs of RIC make them money. Sorry. I can't be getting transportation to the clinic whenever something goes wrong. Plus the inconveniences of not being able to switch modes or volume and not having binaural hearing while waiting.

    Judgmental....much?

Some of the older people among us remember when the epidemic first started, and there were no medications for it. It was a death sentence, and the hysteria was understandable. Some of those attitudes remain, especially when there are people of that generation who do not know people who have...

    Volunteer

I recently re-activated my volunteer status at the VA. If you don't like red tape, don't. ;) but they try to find the most rewarding assignments for you personally. When I had a car, I was sitting with patients at hospice. Some were comatose, but others bring long-lasting memories. Now...

Ear molds for hearing aids - what kind are most comfortable?

It bothered me when I saw my soft molds turning yellow. Nobody ever saw it, but I did. Hard plastic stays looking nice.

What jobs can you do with hearing loss?

For those who rely more on written communication, there is proofreading. I volunteer at https://www.pgdp.net/c/ which does work for Project Gutenberg. Good place to gain experience and prove that you can do it.

    Ear molds

I hate feedback, and even the blips inherent in feedback suppression. I have my HA's set up as if I had a more severe loss, and I am happy. Acrylic. I would never get RIC, because of the failure rate. My Zephyr gives me a strong sense of security.
