What Are Jobs Deaf People Can't Do?

The are Deaf Sign language interpreters that are like...dialect specialists. They help bridge communication when a signer has been self taught in a certain region. It may be hard for a non-native user to understand so they bring in a Deaf interpreter.

    Happy life

Learning how to enjoy ones own company and finding happiness from within it one of the most invaluable lessons a person can learn; in my humble opinion. Makes us less likely to tolerate abuse, less anxiety from always trying to be with someone, anyone. All the best :)

    Help with book dialogue.

the rudeness would be in the tone and facial expression. Also, while one is more grammatically correct; the pedantic person correcting is really the rude one. I'd scrap that as it seems unnecessary and doesn't fit for what you're trying to do anyway.

Feeling closed in, lonely, a bit sad

You guys are right. That longer this goes on; the harder it becomes at times. Finding and maintaining a scheduled seems to help. Still going to bed and waking up at the same time. Going on a walk daily (when the temps are good for it) find a hobby that you've never tried and lose yourself in it...

very happy to have found this place, wanting to do my responsibility in elevating disabled perspectives

I agree. Well said. Restraint must have been hard. It also illustrated our point. You don't need saving. The only way to cure ignorance is exposure to the truth.

very happy to have found this place, wanting to do my responsibility in elevating disabled perspectives

I think what you are missing and therefore rubbing people the wrong way is (and Analog, please correct me if I am wrong) Is that the Deaf community doesn't need saving or a hearing hero to elevate them. They have PLENTY of Deaf Talent to do that for themselves, by themselves. They don't need us...

    Nail Polish while signing poll

Hello everyone, I am a student of ASL while working to become a Deaf Advocate for my mental health care agency. In class; I noticed that the girls that wore darker nail polish in class were easier for me to understand. As if the handshape was highlighted and therefore easier to read; is this...

    Living with deaf husband

There are a lot of helpful places to learn sign language. Bill Vicars is a Deaf ASL professor that posts his lectures on Youtube. Start at the beginning videos; I've found that helpful. ASLpro is another helpful site; especially the fingerspelling quizzes. Great places to start; hope this...

What does email mean to hearing people?

norm 1. something that is usual, typical, or standard Norm as in normal. The normative practice or expected norm. In an online program; the "norm" would mean corresponding by email. Hope this helps :)

What does email mean to hearing people?

Email is probably the preferred method of communication with professors here in the US. Especially right now. I'm sorry to hear you've had difficulties obtaining your education due to lack of access. Have you tried online courses where emails would be the norm? Good luck!
