    Most annoying/frusturating interpreter mistakes

I've thought about this, because I have considered becoming a terp in the future.. I think it would be awkward if i were to terp for my friends in personal situations (esp since my plans are to be a primarily medical interpreter), but at the same time, how does a hearing person become fluent...

PSE vs ASL VS SEE examples

Hey, I've been doing some reading up on PSE for class, and i am debating on doing my presentation on explaining the difference between ASL/PSE/SEE.. I've noticed a lot of my class tends to lean towards SEE. None of them really take the time to spend any time in the Deaf community besides the 6...

    Your Neighborhood

i love that i live in the middle of the Appalachian mountains. i hate that they just built a walmart and a lowes in my quiet little town, transforming it into a metropolis. haha. ok slight exaggeration, but more people are moving here and its becoming crowded and i dont like it. :(

Models - what they really look like

ummm yeah, i look better with makeup too... i dont think most of them look that bad in their "ugly" pictures to be honest.. i think its a weird camera angle but they do look like they all have giant heads. haha.. i guess it could be because theyre so skinny?

argument with my ignorant nursing instructor!

im in eastern pa, but up north a bit, about 20 minutes from phillipsburg, nj if you know where that is.. like central jerseyish? haha.. but i may or may not relocate when i graduate depending on what kind of jobs i can find. thats a little far for me right now, but i will definitely look...

argument with my ignorant nursing instructor!

you are absolutely right. and patients like that, who are scared, alone, and in severe pain, deserve a proper interpreter and not someone making them lip read or write back and forth on a piece of paper when it comes to making important decisions when it comes to their health!

that would be awesome! i would love to work somewhere with a higher deaf population someday! i was actually thinking of working at a residential school for the deaf if a school nurse spot opened up. but there are only 2 that are relatively near me.. hmm well see where the future takes me!:hmm:

argument with my ignorant nursing instructor!

wow thanks for the "thanks". haha, but i was really just standing up for something i believe in. i find it really shocking how misunderstood, or unrecognized Deaf culture is.. but its true, not a lot of hearing people have even met a D/deaf/Hoh person before. Before taking my first ASL class...

argument with my ignorant nursing instructor!

Thats great! I dont see myself as pigeonholing myself into one kind of interpreting.. i dont really want to make interpreting my main focus. my first passion is nursing and i want to be a nurse, i just think having my interpreting certificate as well will be beneficial, especially when i have...
